I think I'm right, but Washington-new-Town is not really my area of expertise.

There will be others on this Sunderland & Durham forum, who will know if I am wrong and will (I'm sure) confirm the situation in due course.

Your right N H, ----according to relatives who have lived in Washington for 30 odd years, ---they say there hasn't been a Woolworth's in the Galleries, ---and they say there was a Woolco, --and this stood on the present Asda site.

For what it's worth I agree with the general principle of minimising threads because it keeps matters topical and helps with navigation.

I would suggest for a start that the two almost identical Adelaide threads are merged under "City of Adelaide".

I think Royalty Theatre and Theatre Restaurant should be merged under "Theatres in Sunderland", incorporating the city's main theatre in due course.

All of the various bar and nightlife threads, many of which are very short and inactive, should be merged under "Sunderland Pubs and Bars". This would take in "Indigo Rooms", "Ashbrooke Sports Club", "TJ Doyles/Winstons Deptford", "Bar 55 John Street...", "Ttonic", "Campus music venue...", "Pilgrim Fawcett Street", "Live Footy in Pubs" and all other pub related items of discussion. This thread ought not to include the "Double Maxim" and "Wearside Beeeeeeeeers" thread, which should be merged together under a separate thread entitled "Brewing on Wearside".

Likewise the "Pandoras" thread and other ones about shops opening and closing can be rolled into the main "Retail in Sunderland" one.

I think that would probably do for now, and make the place look a bit tidier.
I go along with this.

Reposting this from our main photography forum.

The projection onto the Cathedral was the centrepiece of the whole Lumiere festival, and was enthralling, powerful and genuinely moving.

Good picture of the gospels projected onto the front of the cathedral:

If anyone has Sky Arts look out on the schedules for a program about the festival. I've got it recorded but haven't watched it yet but it looks at some of the light events and how/why the artist did them.
