Yup, on side view it looks weird with a very long hood and very high ground clearance. I prefer the proportions of the older model specifically the one from 2009-2011.

That is kung willing mag-venture si Gov. Jose Alvarez and Johnny Hernandez into manufacturing or assembling military vehicles locally under Columbian Motors. Distributing don't have a problem.

Yup, these coaches are designed and built by Del Monte Motor Works, Inc. DMMWI. They are easily the most prolific bus designers in the country as they've been churning out models every year under the DM banner. The Buses shown on the poster are the DM18 design on a MAN 19.360 RR3 chassis. They also do bus body for Volvo B7R and B8R under the DM16S2 model line.

Meron sa QC along Del Monte Avenue - their main plant, pero under renovation. Currently, nasa Sto. Tomas, Pampanga ang bus body assembly, as well as modern PUJ using Hyundai chassis (IIRC, H100-based).

Sadly Del Monte Motors, namely their Chairmain and President, is a proponent of some of Francis Yuseco's whacky ideas, including the failed proposal to replaced LRT2 with BRT. I think they should just stick to making bus bodies and leave the transport urban planning to the experts and sane people...

Do they export their buses like Sta. Rosa?

I really hope the H100 will kill the L300. I hate that Mitsubishi got lazy on that light truck of theirs.

No idea kung may history sila ng pag-export ng buses nila sa ibang bansa similar to Santarosa/CMC back in the 90s.

But, in spite of these, they still have a fairly significant share of the ridership on their route no thanks to being identified as BLTBCo. It would have been nice is they stated officially that they are the continuation of BLTB and they could have celebrated 100 years of operation last year.
To add, may mga brand new Ankai units din sila actually that replaces some of their few MAN, Hino and Hyundai units na nag-retire na.

I guess these means Sta. Rosa is still top dog.

They've been exporting those Nissan-Diesel buses to Japan for years.

Ah, I remember these buses, they are the UD Jonkheer Euro model made by Santarosa, it was one of the best looking locally made buses when it came out and it was ordered by so many operators, among them VLI, PRBL, Philtranco, JAM and Tritran (incidentally, it was said that the Euro buses of Tritran was originally for BLTB, but problems led to its transfer to Tritran).

The units that went to Japan were used as airport shuttles.

Isuzu opens transmission assembly line in PH
Quote:
Isuzu Philippines Corp. said it added a transmission assembly line to its factory in Biñan, Laguna to complement the assembly efforts and increase the company’s local parts utilization under the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program.
IPC manager for sales and marketing Joseph Bautista said Isuzu became the first automotive company to create an assembly line dedicated for the transmission component for PUVs.
“The prospect of the volume looks promising. Because of the program, the potential here in the Philippines is huge. With as many as 200,000 jeepneys that the government aims to be replaced by modern PUVs, we see the urgent need to have a transmission line here,” he said.
Isuzu Auto Parts Manufacturing, a sister company of IPC in the Philippines, is responsible for putting together the transmission line. Isuzu used to import the transmission gear from Japan.
Adding the transmission and the body, the local content of Isuzu PUVs have reached 60 percent, one of the conditions a PUV program participant should be able to satisfy

I moved some post discussing DLTB in the Bus Line thread in the Transport and Infrastructure section. Please continue discussing specifics on the Bus Lines over there but the bus manufacturing itself should be in this thread.
