Old Square shopping centre to be flattened for housing, including Debenhams! Will try and find more details.

New theatre to go ahead following a council CPO.

https://www.expressandstar.com/news/...-post-offices/

I doubt the owners were ever serious with their app to turn the building into flats - the size and shape didn't even lend itself to that use.

I really hope not. That is a huge area of green land to lose.

Really threw me, this picture. Took me longer than normal to figure out where I was looking at, whoever made the image flipped it 90 degrees so that North is now East. Sack-able offence.

Strykers Self Storage has been resubmitted. No small industrial units any more, just drive thru coffee, self storage and offices.

Another high street fund, and two winners nearby - Brierley Hill and Wednesbury - this time focused on historic buidings and training people with stonemasonry skills to restore them.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-49692091

So Brierley Hill could turn out lovely in a few years time, benefiting from both funds, and the Metro of course.

Cov and Stoke are the main focus though.

Major greenbelt development in North Wolverhampton

Have found a disturbing PDF. I think this is a little worse than the previous map I posted.

Because it's in my back yard. Ish. Pff.

Anyway. Taylor Wimpey's vision for the area around Linthouse Lane.

https://www.sstaffs.gov.uk/planning-...ision%20P1.pdf

A beautiful place if anybody's familiar with the road.

A positive is that they identify some of the site as a potential country park (North of what they've identified as a former railway - I'll have to look into that line!)

I've mapped it out here:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1dn...nm&usp=sharing

However it should be noted that much of the other greenbelt under the M54 (and above actually) is also subject to similar ideas... Particularly around Moseley Old Hall, Brinsford Lane and Essington.

Should also be noted that this area falls under South Staffordshire and not Wolverhampton. So this is South Staffs extending Wolves and leeching off it to no benefit to the city.

Not good. I grew up there, this would be awful. The country park is (I think) already countryside. Talk about greenwash.

The old railway line is a great walking path. You can take a footpath from Linthouse Lane to Blackhalve Lane, then walk a little way up the lane and get on the old railway path and walk through the fields to Essington.

Would Wolverhampton Council be able to have a say in this?

Wolves CC will decide which sites will be "allocated" in the next version of the development plan. However, even if a site isn't allocated it may still come forward for development.

If it does go ahead I hope they can keep the old square passage way & build the development around it

The Talisman to be demolished and replaced with six shops with 19 apartments above.

This is one pub replacement I am quite content with; just what the doctor ordered for the area. The Talisman was just a hive for gangs to be frank, and Berrybrook Farm (ne Millhouse/Pear Tree) is around the corner.

Another planning app has gone in recently for further residential development at the former Goodyear site in Wolverhampton.

19/00980/REM 228 homes of which 211 are for sale, 7 for shared ownership and 10 for rent.

The density of the proposal is approximately 38 dwellings per hectare.

So, quick venture into town... Half-arsed Retail Roundup!

Shop in the Square has moved into the former PDSA shop, next to the new Wilko. Looks really good actually. Smaller than before though (they've intentionally put a dividing wall in to make their unit littler).

The Works have opened their Christmas shop. Was rumours a long while back that they might knock through into this unit. Disappointed it just seems to be a seasonal thing as this unit is empty most of the year.

Temptation is closing down in the Wulfrun Centre, and Tyler's of Bilston has now gone completely. As has Herbert Brown.

A new ice cream unit has opened in the Wulfrun however, opposite Burger King, and actualy looks really good. Great styling and effort has been put into looks.

Across the way from this, the e-cig shop has closed down.

Just along from that the last of the little units next to Debenhams is being painted inside to looks like someone will move in there.

Primark's refresh is now complete, looking decent. Cheap and chearful but welcome.

Wilko and B&M look ready to open inside (sneak peak through a fag break door opening). Should be decent. Opening mid November and mid October respectively.

Think that's about it...
