Forum is not a valid source of information when it comes to road numbering

Some more recent satellite imagery is available in Google Earth (not Google Maps!)

S7 at Tarczyn on 24 August 2019

S14 at Łódź on 12 September 2019

For those who don't know, Google Earth often has more recent imagery than the default images. You can access those by clicking on the historical imagery button. These will automatically force the newest to the top.

It's a nice way to track projects.

GDDKiA terminated two contracts with Energopol Szczecin for extensive delays: S10 Wałcz bypass and A6 reconstruction of Kijewo interchange. Energopol's third contract: A6 Dąbie – Rzęśnica (reconstruction of a fragment of Nazi German motorway which had served until now, to a contemporary standard) is at late stages and has not been terminated.

About that (though it's actually not those most recent openings which made a change, like Kemo explained), a quick visualization of which cities can now say it about each other. Hope there are no mistakes

You counted DK1 Gierkówka as dual carriageway, which it ceased to be this year

Well, obviously closures for reconstructions can't count when we talk in general about which cities have been connected by highways after 50% of the construction plan has been completed, and which will only get completed in the future. Or otherwise we'll get into absurdities like we'd need to say Kraków and Katowice are not connected by a dual carriageway right now. Reconstructions and closures happen everywhere, it doesn't change the fact that Katowice and Warsaw already got connected by a dual carriageway (a long time ago)

It's not your fault, it's the fault of those who posted wrong information on the Polish subforum obviously But since this way that wrong information got itself into this thread, it's a good deed that Kemo corrected it, not a wrong deed, isn't it?

It is just astonishing how well Poland has done to upgrade its road network, there has been massive progress on some (granted not all) sections

Rather because of the law stating that that national roads becoming replaced by newly built expressways (or non-paid motorways but there are no such cases any more) become voivodeship roads.

Previously they were becoming municipal roads – but the municipalities (often rural-only ones) were complaining that they can't afford the maintenance of such roads. Specifically, it was so when large sections of S8 between Wrocław and Łódź were opened. Sections of the old DK8 and DK14 became municipal roads but the municipalities complained, so the law got changed.

Szczecin - Wrocław: A4 + S3 + DK3 (Lubin - Polkowice) + S3 ?

1 km Odra bridge is for sure 1x2, Lubin - Polkowice wasn't 2x2 as DK3 ?

Ok, good point. I guess it's a borderline then because the bridge is 1x2 but technically it's S class already, so let's say it can indeed count into yellow. Deleting my earlier replies so they don't clutter the thread as it's now resolved.

Same way you can mark Kraków/Katowice - Szczecin.

Breakthrough of the first tube of Zakopianka tunnel (S7) happened today

Well, actually it hapened several days ago, but then they patched the hole so that the politicians can have their "official" breakthrough

Your picture doesn't say that
It is often the case, of course, that last few meters are bored through the real rock in presence of politicians (like in your picture from Channel tunnel), but it is very rare that official breakthrough is made through torcreted "courtain" while actual breakthrough was made few days before - that happened in tunnel Sozina in Montenegro about 15 years ago.

Well, hold my beer

Here's a film from official breaktrough (unofficialy it was done few days before)

https://www.facebook.com/gddkia/vide...5526143068060/

You can clearly see torcreted "courtain"

and officials were well prepared for this

Anyway here are some pics from parallel tunel still to go through
