400 N L.S.D will surely get a supertall from Related. How you define a "while" is subjective. I could see 2 more in the next 3-4 years. I doubt Tribune will get scaled back, that is an either build it or not proposal and they are planning for Q1 2020. NEMA II has a chance of being a supertall and who knows with Site I, at 950' they could bump it up 40' or so in a revision. NEMA gained 60'. One Chicago losing super-tall status was annoying, there's no way an extra 71' made the project costs unfeasabile. 1,046' sounded so much better and looked much better proportionally not to mention the added premium for the higher units. Wolf Point South was crushing, being 814' at the river confluence when you have a major anchor tenant like Salesforce in the best location in the city is just mind boggling, If you can't justify 1,000'+ here how do they ever....

I hope so, I think the condo market is cooling down so Tribune may be a bit of a stretch but they can always wait until next cycle.

As with 400 LSD they need to remove the hotel component in the revision I believe, that was in the taller tower. This could shorten it a lot unless they combine the two.

I don't know about Site I or NEMA, I'd hope they end up around 300 meters if built but my idea of a supertall these days is more like 350-400 meters.

I remember when Chicago had the first, second, fifth, and sixth tallest buildings in the US . . . Hopefully we'll get several more over 350 meters so Chicago will look more impressive on the lists, even if NY has the top spot.

^ the mind-boggling thing is they will likely build all that.

There must be a truly enormous professional class emerging in China to fill these towers (thanks in part to N. American universities ;-).

China is too astonishing...

It would be awesome if Sydney could expand it's CBD further south, it's a pity it'll never happen though (doomed to stay that size forever it seems).

China has something like 45 million students in Higher Ed, and churns out about twice the graduates as the US (and 8x more STEM graduates at 2.6 million a year). It's at 51% enrolment (2018) and climbing very fast - but that also means there's a glut; many graduates fail to find a high paying job as the competition currently doesn't match the demand, which will still take years to catch up. About 660,000 study abroad too, of which 80% return within the year

PS If you look closely at the rendering you can see the Eiffel Tower, part of the superiorly tacky, crumbling Window of the World theme park set up in the 1990s, and the city's first major attraction back in the day. It's currently been reborn in popularity as a great place to take fake /tongue in cheek selfies from round the world. I reckon one day it'll be a great rusting anomaly among the cityscape.

Toronto's skyline will surely be part of the conversation in 2025.

150m+ buildings: 68 built, 40 under construction, 84 proposed
300m+ buildings:. none built, 1 under construction, 6 proposed

KL

Merdeka 118 is still under construction, but KL is already preparing for a 145-storey super tower. Once the 700m+ tower is U/C, who knows KL will be preparing for a 1km tower next
