I was wondering who had purchased it. They've been busy on the site for months!

Will be interesting to see what kind of reception it gets.

Apologies for the screen shot render!

Recommended for approval in the planning committee agenda, despite many NIMBY representors.

Also, article in the Mercury today mentioning UTAS’s shipping container village is being installed as we speak.

Well, they have been rather busy on the odd little job around town...I wonder if they trust themselves to buiild it or instead sub contract it out?

Part of the Salamanca area has been dug up. The grassy knoll road island was removed the other week and a section around that is fenced off with some digging and flattening going on. Presumably this stage will cut off direct access from Morrison Street to Montpelier.

Harrington Street apartments approved. Shame its 2 floors lower than originally planned, although another empty site being developed is good for density

Agreed. But the anti high rise nutters have the Council running scared. I would have taken the 6 level version to RMPAT and probably won. Anyway, let's see if they actually build it.

Not approved, just planning committee endorsed. But given how that committee is stacked I would assume it’ll get through.

Hot off the presses...from the Mix radio website.

Quote:
This Saturday (May 18), Dan Murphy's Newtown are throwing open the doors to their shiny new showroom of local and imported spirits, wines and beers!

Dave and Al will be there from 9:00am - 12:00pm for a full outdoor broadcast of The Dave Noonan Show with Al Plath. They will also be slinging FREE egg and bacon rolls to everyone through the door that morning! If you're one of the first 200 people there, you can even grab yourself a free coffee!

The party doesn't stop after 12:00pm... Dangerous Dave takes over the broadcast AND the BBQ with free snags until 3pm! As always, the Triple M Street Patrol will be there with the footy target for some pre-AFL fun!

Anyone have an update on when The Rox/160 Elizabeth St might start? I’m really keen on this one, as it will do a lot for the streetscape.

The latest I heard was the developer was desperately trying to source some additional car parking for the complex.

A number of potential buyers want at least a car space or mostly two and the complex is not big enough to accommodate it.

Serves the developer right imho - if it had made it another 2 stories taller there would have been plenty of room for additional car parking.

In the circs, I would be very suprised if a start is made on this project before the end of the year and if it is it will be just low grade demo. More likely a 2020 start, I think

Vos is pretty busy with other projects as well so this is unlikely to be a priority for them either.

That’s still stage 1 isn’t it? Near the Salamanca inn. Stage 2 is where My Chemist is, on Montpelier. No planning application for that yet.

Correct but my spies tell me while this is the end of stage 1 but in the nature of enabling works prior to a stage 2 start.

Can you explain? I still don’t get it—isn’t that photo of the site on Gladstone St? I thought stage 2 was a further build over on Montpelier retreat. They’ve been working on the Gladstone build for over six months now, looks like it’s about to top out.

If anybody was still wondering why the Bridge of Remembrance turned out a bit iffy... there it is, in the architect’s words.

Great find. I have to say I dont really like it that much...it just seems unfinished and the architectural lighting is terrible!

You can now have your say on the Battery Point Slipyards Master Plan, released mid-last year I believe. Enjoy.

Nothing earth shattering. A food and coffee van maybe too.

Mmm. Interesting. That 6 site would be a nice spot for a martime themed restaurant....
