Problem with Bangladesh private airline industry, as I see it , is that they are too small in scope, which in turn is owing to poor capitalization. These are carriers with shoestring budgets. Naturally, cost cutting is the name of the game, just to even remain afloat (no pun intended).

What needs to happen is that the richest of the rich in Bangladesh, with deepest pockets ought to get involved, so that funding crisis is never an issue. Instead of obtained very old equipment that require top maintenance, they ought to be able to order brand new aircraft from the manufacturer in decent numbers (quantities). Furthermore, when funding is never an issue, there won't be pressure on management to cut corners.

We already had one (Nepal) nobody bats an eye.

Such rich people do not exist in BD, a vast majority of them are leveraged to the point that even Wall St. would find it to be preposterous. On top of that a they are operating just because the government looks the other way instead of even enforcing the basis of the laws that we already have enacted.

Noakhali district to have airport

Civil Aviation Minister Shahjahan Kamal has stated (22-July-2018) the Government of Bangladesh has taken an initiative to build an airport in Noakhali considering the commercial and economic potential of the southern district. A possible site in Char Shullukia located about 13km from the district town has been identified. Noakhali Science and Technology University will be given the responsibility to conduct a feasibility study.

The minister visited the proposed site and made the remarks in a public meeting.

He mentioned that a large number of residents of the district live outside the country. Many of the leading industrialists hail from this district. An industrial zone, a cantonment and numerous small to medium industries are located here. Therefore, having an airport in the district is economically important.

What do you think? Isn't there an unused air field in Noakhali?

They may be setting themselves up for failure if they are skimping on inspection and maintenance.

Can happen to any aircraft at any given time. How long did it take to fix it?

Their aircraft leasing cost is high. So they are always in sky. Thinks will be ok if they got two more 737. I think.

Yes, they fix it within six hour after last try to fly. The APU need overhauling. Biman procure two brand new (from Honeywell, as far I know) APU as reserve one for 737 as well as one for 77W. reserve.

But Biman engineer department need a good efficient folk.

Am noticing really long delays of most BG flights possibly with the knock on effect of
most of the 773's being deployed for Jeddah. These next few weeks must be worst time Biman travelers with the disruption but then again it happens every year around this time.

As long it is owned and operated by GoB, it's par for the course.

Airlines, Biman excluded, do not establish routes simply at the behest of governments/government officials.

This is kinda grey area as there are number of parties involved. Flight Caterer? truck carry it? Flight crew? Cleaners? etc.

Same issue with mosquitoes at DAC and it all comes down to hygiene issue we all have noticed at DAC. I believe there are more incidents that goes unreported.

Quote:
SalamAir, Oman’s first budget airline, will introduce services to Dhaka that will be four times a week from August 28. Tickets are available through the website or the company’s call centre, a statement said.

Flights from Muscat to Dhaka will be operated on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, while flights from Dhaka will be operated on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
It seems that the start of SalamAir went overall much slower than anticipated, but I suppose since they are now announcing a fixed date in Omani newspapers, and no longer provide only a vague date, they will actually start operating by the end of August.

Seems that Biman want some investment from government. As the loan and asset ration is too much risky. But if government inject money like Government Bank BG will become more corrupted like Air India.

There must be some alternative way.

1. It could be by selling share.
2. By structural investment.

In the last few election cycles in the US, one phrase become popular: lipstick on a pig. Such is the case with Biman.
