Because they are so ugly and made England unattractive architecturally over night to this very day, they have a great power and need our respect. Few countries knocked down so much intact architecture to build such crap as the UK did. We must celebrate our mistakes to understand them better. For example, not only did these buildings look ugly and ridiculously souless on the outside, they managed to transform the actual residents. They managed to depress/ keep in crime the way a toilet keeps in waste and annoy basically everyone who ever came into contact with them. People tend to blame socialism and are correct to, but without celebrating these structures we can never learn. Here are the blocks that changed the skyscape of my area for ever:

Designed by Goldfinger, it was so ugly and disgusting that local resident, Ian Fleming, creator of James Bond named one of his best 'baddies' after the 'architect'.

Another fav of my area is this beauty:

a hundred yards from this beauty:

well if u really want to see, my own beautiful pics - just ask!

At least we can say is that many similar blocks have been demolished. Some are downright ugly. Others may be salvageable as I can see from the exterior and their surroundings.

Like this one:

Looks like a tower block in a modern, yet clean neighbourhood in a northern European country.

In any case, Goldfinger's monstrosity needs to go down with a big bang!

....BTW I have a few pics from Coventry commie style residentials. They are old pics (1995) but clear. Can I post them here or is there any other UK commies thread?

Has anyone seen any original drawings from the 1960s of these blocks from before they were built? I really want to see how they envisaged things would be in these places, as a community rather than just architecture. I know it was supposed to be sorting out all the wrongs of the old victorian slums.

they were socialist idealists that deep down like innocent 5 year olds instead of urban decay and graffiti/pissed stained walkways envisaged this (Jetsons):

The reality:
