Those 6 blocks in Walsall will be demolished soon Redstone. That particular one is empty now and it's not a particular pleasant area so they brick up the first couple of storeys to stop undesirables (or ssc members) gaining access.

Someones been busy!
Big smiley to smileyface for his efforts.

Are the views from the tops just a case of waiting for someone to let you in or are some kind of subversive free climber?
What vantage points did you use - stairwells and that or did you knock on some poor sods door?

Just hang around outside for someone to let you in. These are all taken over quite a large time period and are all on the very impressive Tower Block thread in the Birmingham section Caw123 on the Manchester forums was way ahead of me with this idea so all the plaudits must go to him.

Hello everyone. This is a great thread. I'll try and add some pictures over the next few days although most of my tower blocks seem to be quite refined compared to what's been posted so far. To start, here's the first post-war tower block in Britain. The Lawn, Harlow by Frederick Gibberd, 1951.

Thanks for that photo from Harlow SirDenys. I've only ever seen that tower block once - in a book of boring postcards that I've got! I really like the look of it.

I live in St Georges Island so maybe I'm biased, but they're not that bad are they? I mean... I get a full length balcony at least! Ahem.

It's great to see that high rise living is BACK!!

As long as they keep those exclusive they should be a success. Let's hope our other towns and cities take advice from Manchester.
