man, you guys kicking it right now. Just yesterday Iluminat came with this absolute wonderful picture of highly symmetric public housing embedded in lovely green area of Warsaw and now skysteel is holding it down with pictures which show a nice interplay of symmetric geometrical shapes, of towerblocks and ribbon development, of public housing and nicley surrounded green areas.....and so on.

Thats it folks! Nuttin' about commieblocks from the early 20's, when mass housing production started in Germany and France and elsewhere in Europe till all these nice variations of eastern europe commieblocks in 70's and maybe 80's. But then it got lost! Due to lack of funding Sovietunion started to built way too dense and with little variation (and sometimes none....but should't mean anything bad, as long as the used types of commieblocks were perfect.....but they weren't!!!!).

PS: I like skysteels avatar....in the future I will also need to migrate from Ubuntu to Debian....since I don't know where Ubuntu is going right now....something like commercial software

What kind of people live today in UA commieblocks?

In Western Europe (Holland, France, GB etc.) commieblock areas tend to become problem areas housing marginalized people who cannot afford other types of housing. Who has the choice moves to areas with individual houses or smaller apartment buildings.
How is the situation in Ukraine, are the commieblock areas in Kiev, Charkov, Dnipropetrovsk also becoming crime-ridden no-go areas or is that mainly a Western European problem?

It's mostly limited to WE although I'm sure there are some not so good commieblock neigberhoods affected by deindustrialization etc.

I don't know about Ukraine, but most of Russian people cannot afford even commieblock apartments
Most part of buildings in Russia is commieblocks. So if commieblocks were very criminalized areas, then the Russia at whole would be one big piece of crime.

Those periodic photos are very nice! Im interested in commieblocks of UA. I have one question: Do you have types of blocks wich are used in more cities like here in Slovakia? For example can I see blocks like thoose from Pripyat in Kiev or in some other ukrainian cities? Thanks
