Search for passengers after aircrew gets measles

Hong Kong health authorities were trying to reach passengers who went to Tokyo on March 1 and the Philippines on February 28

The Centre for Health Protection has been trying to reach passengers on four Cathay Pacific flights after a male flight attendant contracted measles.

The attendant, a 23-year-old Hong Kong man, developed a fever on March 1 when he was abroad and worked on flight CX526 from Hong Kong to Tokyo and flight CX527 on his return, Apple Daily reported.

The health center was trying to reach passengers who were on flights CX526 and CX527 to Tokyo on March 1, as well as the inbound and outbound flights CX921 and CX922 between Hong Kong and Cebu, the Philippines, on February 28, during the incubation period.

Although initially announced last year that routing will be DOH - DVO - CEB - DOH, QR changed their minds and instead routed its initial service to DVO via CRK.

Its not certain when they will come back to CEB. There were talks that it would be in June this year but all is up in the air.

Sure is. Representatives from Asia and beyond were in Cebu from March 10th to 12th to address routes connectivity in Asia and develop opportunities to link other nations through negotiations with airports and airlines.

That Mongolian Airlines plane should have been a chartered flight from Ulan Bator with representatives flown in, perhaps to start flight negotiations between Mongolia and the Philippines during the conference.

QR already flies DOH-CRK using a 787 Dreamliner, personally saw one in CRK (nice plane)

by doing DOH-CRK-DVO they won't need to field another plane to do the route cos it's basically just a tag-on to the existing DOH-CRK route

now if they do DOH-CEB-DVO they would need a separate plane to do that, which they can't do cos they don't have enough planes and they don't have an existing route in CEB or DVO

The MIAT plane arrived on the 13th. The last day of the conference was 12th. As per sources, it had 200+ pax and it will depart on the 17th. Must be toursim related.

Qatar announces Cebu comeback

QATAR Airways has identified Cebu and Davao among 16 new destinations they will open between 2018 and 2019.

The airline’s aggressive expansion was announced at the opening day of ITB Berlin, the world’s largest international travel.

Qatar Airways entered Cebu in 2003. It allowed greater accessibility for European tourists, as well as for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

However, 10 years after, the airline halted its Cebu service in Mar. 26, 2012.

The airline’s Cebu-Doha route, according to an airline consultancy firm, Capa-Center for Aviation report, was unprofitable with the A330-200 because of the relatively low yields in the Cebu market.

Rising fuel costs and high operating expenditure were also the reasons the airline suspended its operations, according to a previous report.

But in 2016, Qatar Airways had expressed its interest to come back to Cebu.

The Capa report said the airline may resume its Cebu-Doha operations, following other foreign airlines’ move of expanding its Philippine operations.

Qatar Airways’ planned re-entry would be timely with the opening of the Terminal 2 of Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) in the first half of this year

It is my sincerest hope with prayer that Qatar Airways will fly back to Cebu on the 3Q of this year.

A charter too nonetheless. I'd love to see even more airlines operate to CEB, MNL, and the rest of the Philippines. Is it a 737 or a 767? For some reason, I cannot tell the registration.

Do CEB as a tagalong to DVO on board the 787 and time the flight well for onward connections to Europe and North America to develop a sizable revenue for that service.
