The government approved two highway extension projects in Rajasthan involving investments of Rs 713 crore with assistance from the World Bank.

“Government has approved a proposal for rehabilitation and upgrading of two stretches of National Highways in Rajasthan under Phase I of National Highway Interconnectivity Improvement Projects (NHIIP) with World Bank loan assistance,” said a release by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

Construction of 2 new four-lanes to reduce distances

Source: By UdaipurTimes Team on January 2, 2015
Quote:
Two of the big projects of four lane viz. Udaipur-Gomti and Rajsamand-Bhilwara are expected to enter completion phase this year.

With the help of Chirwa tunnel, which is under process, the Udaipur-Gomti tunell will reduce the distance to reach Nathdwara up to five kilometers. Also, a one kilometer long elevated road in Nathdwara will be completed in the meantime.

Both the four lanes will ease the traffic pressure coming from Mumbai, Gujrat, Delhi and Jaipur.

The Rajsamand-Bhilwara four lane is stretched to 87.5 kms and is under construction phase since October 2013, with the budget of Rs. 915 crores. The project has undergone 40% of its completion phase.

On the other hand, Udaipur-Gomti four lane is 79.31 kms long. The project was started in April 2013 with an estimated budget of Rs. 1114.27 crores.

Kota: 175-cr bypass project approved

Hindustan Times
Quote:
The Union ministry for road transport and highways has approved the proposed Kota northern bypass project. Now, tenders for the project could be floated soon. At present, in the absence of a bypass, entire vehicular traffic of the National Highway 76 (Kota-Baran highway) passes through the city, thus resulting in traffic jams. The proposed project would help decongest the city. The proposed bypass would connect the KotaSawai Madhopur highway to the NH 76 through a road between Jhalipura area and Gaamach area in the district. Kota Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) will carry out the bypass project.

Giving information about the project, Kota UIT chairman and district collector Jogaram (who goes only by his first name) said that the trust was waiting for the Union ministry approval after completing land acquisition process for the bypass project last month. After approval from the Union ministry, a ministry level screening committee and a state level evaluation committee have been formed to prepare technical bid for the project. Soon, a detailed project report (DPR) for floating the tender for the project would be prepared, Jogaram said.

The total cost of the 14.2-km bypass project is estimated to be Rs. 175 crore. The UIT has acquired 67.4 hectare land for the project. The project is likely to be completed in a couple of years.

Rajasthan's longest 6 lane tunnel between Devli and Kota.

I like the wooden finish, way better than rough shotcret finish of jaipur tunnel.

From Bhaskar.
