Same:lol: one look and I was like, "there it is; those Silke curves, looking like some futuristic Art Deco crown". Prefer his new builds over his redevelopments though.
100% agree, all his buildings seem to morph into the same style. One trick pony?
Probably not, but it does seem like he's carved out a "style" he sticks to; bargaining that people come to him based on his aesthetic - as they do. Very Howard Roark-esque I guess.
This is rad! - so glad
Golden age deco vide with a hint of Werdmuller in there too.
I sincerely hope it activates the restoration/upgrade of Transnet's building across the road!
Property under development comprises the Adderley Street property in the Cape Town CBD that is being redeveloped into 215 residential units with 870 m2 ground floor retail that has been let to Dischem on a 10 year lease commencing in May 2019. Total costs incurred to 31 December 2018 amount to R143,4 million and the project is expected to be completed in May 2019.
I suppose with the sign already up not much will be done to alter facade. They could have alt least cleaned the stone work - unless it’s still on the cards
Disappointed with the whole project but glad the clock is still there. I hope the developers get it working again - if it is not too much trouble for them.
Agree - what a disappointment - all the fanfare and didn’t even bothered to clean the facade. Looking at other projects/buildings they are managing I am not surprised .
I'm just going to change the thread title to "Cancelled." They've done very little exterior work, so this looks pretty much the same as it did before. It's more of a minor refurbishment (if that!) than anything. A shame!
