HONG KONG [5] Kwun Tong - Grit

Kwun Tong is one of HK's grittiest districts with a lot of old lowrise buildings. Yet it has a very vibrant streetscapes. During the morning, residents visit the markets along the streets and inside the main food building to buy fresh groceries.

People living in this district may not be poor if they own their apartments. But this is an old residential area developed in the 60's & 70's when town planning is not a concern, since demand for houses was so great(Each year, hundred thousands of immigrants came from mainland China). This district has been aging for some years and maybe some original flat owners have moved out. They sold their apatments or rented them out. So, many people living there might be lower-class.

Those are some of the worst-looking HK buildings I've ever seen.
