I hate thinking about what could of been though! When I joined ssc we had about 9 or 10 100m+ towers either proposed or approved n 2 of which where 200m+ n now we get this shit!

Okay yeah its better then an empty site but please don't let something like this happen to beorma, bst or the natwest site.

I think and I'm hoping this will surprise us, be like an etna house

75m whilst nothing on v tower I think will still be substantial enough to get us excited when it's going up and I do hope the design proves itself popular

Absolutely awful rubbish. In fact I'd rather the section was cleared and turned into greenspace while a new proposal had been properly decided. It seems that BCC or whoever the landowner is, has been so desperate to get this monkey of their back, they have decided to choose any old scheme that comes along.

The Dandara proposal truly is CRAP.

That's not because I remember anything about V-Tower- all that occurred before I moved to Brum so my mind is untainted with the previous proposal. However, having looked at the last render from a visual impact and perspective this tower will be disastrous for Birmingham particularly in trying to shake off the concrete block image. Paradise Circus will be making a massive step in this direction but this abomination set us back again simply because it is in the most prominent place in the city in terms of the thousand and thousand of people that will get see it... and for a long duration too, whether driving up the A38 or walking up New Street.

Everyone in Planning should be ashamed of themselves and should re-educate themselves as to why we find a high profile scheme such as this unpalatable in these modern times.

My only hope, and this would be unlikely, is that Dandara goes bust in the meantime and fails to build it giving a proper developer with a good eye a chance to build something much more aesthetically pleasing and much more suited to the 2020's and beyond rather than dropping down something from the 1960's.

Dandara is AWFUL. And this scheme is shockingly TERRIBLE.

Here's hoping it never gets built.

Has this been granted planning permission? Is it too late to object. The view from the gorgeous Victoria Square towards the Town Hall is horific and will seriously detract from the overall view visitors and locals have of the Victorian grandeur. Shocked the Victorian society et al have not been more vocal? It's not like the city depserately needs this plot developed with all the other buildings going up around the city and even in the same location. Very confused how this has got so far, it will generate a very poor image of the city from many important angles.

What I find contradictive is we are taking down the Central Library and putting up something which is truly miserable a few hundred meters away. We were trying to free up the city from crap like this and create something special. We eventually get Paradise Circus underway and then some johnny foreigner presents something like this. It's really upsetting and I wish the Birmingham Post would write an article detailing peoples frustrations with it. It's all well and good posting articles on proposals but they need to report peoples feelings on major projects like this. Unfortunately I can't see this being rejected which is a great shame unless we got the local media on board and see the angst amongst the locals.

Look what happened to the Pinnacle when pictures were leaked of a potential redesign. It went world wide in hours and the condemnation was massive.

We can easily do that locally with this piece of turd that WILL blot our landscape and the views from Victoria Square. V Tower gave it elegance despite being big, this does nothing but makes me want to throw up and cry.

So let's make a fuss about it! I firmly believe that our badgering and emailing has let Network Rail know that people are actually keeping an eye on the New Street redevelopment, particularly regarding the footbridge.

I think the consultation period for this site is over. Still send in your comments. Officers don't usually discount comments received after the consultation period if they have valid planning grounds.

The appearance of the building aesthetically of the significance of the site are not reasons to object.

Lobby the planning committee before they meet to decide. They may not need much persuading especially with some high-profile objectors already making their feelings felt.

I know i won't be objecting. It may not be the best design but It is a design that fit's in with the site. And although I'd agree from one render the design can be seen to be overbearing from Victoria square. The shadow doesn't fall on the square. 2D images will always give the appearance of a building being closer than it is, but in reality it's far away and I believe it'll go largely unnoticed.

The Paradise blocks on Fletchers will block it out mainly anyhow. I agree with the fitting in comment - Alpha is its close neighbour.
