whoa! I'm surprised they're having lots of development in Oakland! I would like to see some renders! I used to live on 5th Ave. at the cargo shipping yard nearby in the 1980's.

What can you expect with the housing prices in SF? You still have a beautiful view across the bay to SF and all you have to do to experience the city is a short ride on BART.

Does anybody know what are they building in front of the Oakland Police Department building? They demolished the old building on the site a few days ago.

Many of these units are lofts...that used to be industrial and are now residential..the major benefit I think is the price range...you can a condo/loft for as little as $250,000(dirt cheap) and for as much as $3 Million in Oakland

I live in Jack London Square and there are tons of development projects going up all around my loft. I'll take some photos over the weekend and try to get them posted so folks can see some of the progress being made in this neighborhood.

It's quite impressive!

Thanks for all those interior shots, bay area! They've created some quite attractive living spaces there.

@dvstampa: that's where you live? Cool! I look forward to seeing your pics.

@rjtomeman: I don't think Jack London Square will bring us any tall ones, but in/near the downtown & at Lake Merritt prospects are good. I'm unaware of any new highrise projects in Oakland atm, but that doesn't mean that there are none.
