Original article and lead posted by AJD earlier Today.

As a City fan I can't wait to see what the plans are for the Etihad Campus surrounding the stadium. It's been a very long wait, with lots of rumours and false dawns, but it looks like we could be nearly there?

A very early massing concept.

The latest rumours revolve around a Manchester University Sports and Science institute for 5000 students, was well as Residential Retail, Leisure, Hotels, etc.

Already at the Etihad

But think this ties in with the wider proposed MU Sports Science Campus.

Insider Media North West.

Quote:
UCFB commits to Manchester expansion

Brendan Flood

Higher education provider UCFB, which operates out of the Etihad Stadium and offers university degrees in the football, sport and leisure industries, is to expand its Manchester footprint in a bid to capitalise on its ongoing popularity, Insider can reveal.

The company accommodates approximately 2,000 students across its sites in the North West and Wembley Stadium, and recently secured the green light for an £80m expansion of its facilities around the latter. It has partnerships with the likes of the Real Madrid Graduate School, The FA, Kick it Out and The Rugby Football League, among others.

The UCFB Etihad Campus hosts a number of its classes in the East Stand of Manchester City's stadium.

Founder Brendan Flood, a director of Premier League side Burnley FC, believes the organisation expanding its footprint in Manchester is an "essential next step to cater for the demand that we are receiving from both students and the football industry for our degree programmes".

"Year-on-year growth in student applications continues to be phenomenal at UCFB Etihad Campus," he added. "The popularity of our football degree programmes and exceptional learning environment at the Etihad Stadium and beyond is clear, so accommodating for future growth within the city is our top priority.

"UCFB has embraced being part of Manchester and is showing its commitment to the region through our intention to grow our facilities in the future, which will be important for young people as they look to progress and reinforce Manchester’s position as a global sporting hub and education city.

"We are able to expand at Wembley and will soon do the same in the city of Manchester because we are a knowledgeable team of intelligent professionals that know how to deliver."

The Wembley expansion will comprise an additional 680 student beds and 50,000 sq ft of academic and commercial office space.

In Manchester, UCFB Etihad Campus students utilise the city's Regional Arena, National Squash Centre and the Regional Tennis & Football Centre. They are also taught at the nearby Belle Vue Sports Village – a newly redeveloped multimillion-pound complex comprising of two all-weather pitches, a health and fitness suite, dance studio, multi-sport sports hall, the National Basketball Performance Centre and National Speedway Stadium.

"When it comes to Manchester, credit must go to Manchester City Council for its leadership qualities and creating a location where national and international bodies reside," said Flood.

"We want to discover the talent in each person and open students' minds into the possibilities of going beyond their comfort zone, so they can become great practitioners in the industry and great entrepreneurs around the world."

Looking beyond Manchester, Flood said he hopes to have a campus on every continent and a reach of 15,000 students by 2030.

"After launching UCFB less than seven years ago in Burnley with a cohort of 60, we have since become the largest football educator in the world – with almost 2,000 UK students," he added. "Given our offer within the marketplace, there's no reason why our ambition of reaching 15,000 students won't materialise."

Seems like a good move, I think it's a shame the speedway and Basketball weren't located here, the Belle Vue village isn't even on public transport.

I sincerely hope it's not an anti-climax.

It's been a long wait.

MIPIM, Twitter.

The wording is very specific

Yes, ThreeFour.

No more smoke and mirrors.

It's 10 years since Sheikh Mansour and ADUG bought City. It's been phenomenal what they done so far. But the Collar Site and the Etihad Campus are the final pieces in the Eastlands jigsaw, and we need to know what the proposals are.

If you think back, the CFA was a closly guarded secret, that was in planning for years behind the scenes. The same is probably true with the Collar Site and Etihad Campus.

Fingers crossed.

This was the part of the Shepard Robson concept/proposal back in 2004.

Well that was a bit disappointing. Unless we get to see a video of some ideas it sounds like it was more of a sales pitch.

Damp Squib.

Nothing we weren't aware of

As stated, sales pitch with little or no substance.

The wait goes on.

All the Tweets here as they were Tweeted, via posters on Blue Moon.

Sift through the vague clues and see if you can find anything of substance?

Joking aside, I'll have to agree with you.

It's been *11 Years* since the announcement that Manchester had won the Super Casino, and the Collar Site is still a match day car park. *11 years!*

Are you possibly hoping for a reassuring post and an invite for coffee from Sheikh Mansour?
