So was the whole original WTC complex only connected by the underground concourse level, and none of the main building structures coming from the plaza level were connected to each other at all? Like the main building structure of 3 WTC (the hotel) wasn't connected to the main building structures of the North Tower and the South Tower?

I do know that the main structure of 6 WTC was connected to the World Financial Center by a pedestrian bridge.

Twin Towers circa 1972-73. Night view. It seems a crane on top is still installing the outdoor observation deck on the South Tower.

Awesome picture Worldtraveler94, really great view of the "base segment" right above the lobby floors that resembled the maintenance floors near the sky lobbies.

Great picture. I'd say it's most likely 1972 considering 1 Liberty Plaza has the construction elevator and the Hudson Terminal Building is still on the site of 4WTC.

They were indeed the most influential structures.

It's a shame that even to this day, they will not build similar structures to the twins because like most people know, they were the most iconic structures in their own right.

The reviews are amazing by the way. Full with praise from all corners of America.
Looking from the pictures, Windows on the World looked so spectacular and magical in so many ways.
The interiors/rooms looked so uniquely vintage unlike the contemporary modern designs we have in the new structures.

I've personally never visited the towers (and never will now) but I do hope that one day they will make another restaurant to honour those who worked and perished there.

The underpass of the Cortlandt Street BMT Station (N)(R) at the World Trade Center:

A tiny fragment remained on the upper level until 2005:

I would only post 9/11-related content here if there were a good reason, and in this case, there is. This segment shows some incredibly rare footage of the original Cortlandt Street (1)(9) and (N)(R) stations:

Here is the One Liberty side of the damaged WTC corridor seen in the above video for reference:

Some visuals of the Twin Towers at night in the mid-to-late 70's probably, due to the issue with the night-switches it seems and more of the empty offices.

Also in relation to Windows on the World, I've found an article about the day before.
If anyone wants to read it:

https://lithub.com/september-10-2001...-on-the-world/

It's kind of spooky to think that most of the people mentioned in the article (apart from the Chef) cease to exist because of events that would happen the next day...
