Next door is still up for sale for £3m which seems excessive but ideal for a tower behind the frontage:

That render looks amazing, I really hope more talls are planned on Broad Street, it is the right street for it, and as mentioned above there are several good sites where this could happen.

I have mentioned before the offices where the Job centre currently is would be a prime site for a similar development to this. Though it was mentioned that they are being changed to apartments. Has that gone ahead or is that planned?

Im trying to like this, but all im seeing is another box. Apart from the decent height I don't see what the fuss is about. Hopefully in the flesh it will look more impressive but that last render does nothing to suggest that this, or the 2 Bank towers are adding anything architecturally to the Birmingham skyline.

I think the most impressive part about it is the frontage at street level which will really enhance the area and hopefully get some decent quality operators rather than more chain bars and kebab shops.

There's no plans as far as I know for the Jobcentre to move yet. The site you're probably thinking of is The Square on the other side of Ryland Street which would also make a prime site for a big office or resi development. Unfortunately, as you say it's being turned into apartments.

Regal would've been twice as tall as Left Bank in that last picture. I'm not a fan of either of the Left Bank towers personally.

Not every tower has to be iconic though. Attractive, high quality fillers are good enough for now before we get the expensive, flashy designs. Do you think the same of this one?

More like this along Broad Street would be welcome from me, as long as we don't end up with a development that has four identical towers like Owen Street.

Compare that to the crap on the right here which is a similar quality to Left Bank:

I think we all may be pleasantly surprised by the quality of this one.
For a comparison on the budget for this :-

103 Colmore Row stands at 108 metres and comes with a roof top restaurant, 18th floor terrace, ground floor commercial space, including a huge "public atrium" (winter garden) and attractive external facade at a cost of £80 million...a very stylish development.

The Bank towers one and two have a combined budget costing of £50 million.(and a combined height of 170 metres) I know your not a fan BCA, but in some eyes, mine included, they're quite stylish, attractive towers, which should include some interesting double height commercial/restaurants etc on the ground floors.

2one2 stands at 132 metres and as a budget of over £180 million.+ It may be an upright rectangular box, but it should be "New York style" quality, a real gem and stand head and shoulders (literally) above the rest.

There is now a proper gated entrance at the back, that can be seen partially constructed in the above photos.

I love how that render has a sneak corner of the dramatically reduced Tenant Street Lofts building

Remember when they said it was too tall for the road. Bonkers
