This is a very big political issue in DK ( stupid)
It seems as they consider it as a commercial for EU, seriously my danish friends! Is Denmark a member of EU?
...Yes
Than ...no further question.
Denmark SHALL have eu plates.
...and around 2009 the numberplate system is about to run out for options in DK and there is going to be a change ( my guess )

It has already been decided that we will start using EU plates when our number runs out. They're currently at "ZS" so it will happen soon, probably in the beginning of 2009. It will still be possible to get non EU plates though.

Cool, I look forward to seeing EU plates then. It's the same sytem here in Sweden: you can pick between the EU and non-EU plate. Even if I were against the EU (which I am not) I think I'd still go for the EU plates just to avoid having to put stickers on my car to be able to travel abroad -- silly!

I do not know if it´s true but there were countries before where eu-plates were not enough. You should still use "stickers"

E45 Kolding - Frederikshavn

1. Near Kolding.

2. The typical Danish merge sign.

3. Approaching the Vejle Fjord Bridge.

4. On the bridge. I believe the busiest part of the E45 south of Aalborg.

5. Vejle-Nord exit.

6. Distance sign. They could sign Aalborg here in my opinion.

7. Hornstrup exit ahead.

8. Overtaking not allowed for trucks and trailers during the day.

9. Notice the patched-up right lane, you'll see this a lot in Denmark.

10. Nice way to sign the next exit too.

continue up the E45.

11. Hedensted exit.

12. The E45 carries quite some trucks.

13. The Danish landscape has often rolling hills with some views.

14. Horsens-Syd exit ahead.

15. At the exit itself.

16. The Horsens-Vest exit is next.

17. Horsens is a somwhat larger city with 3 exits along E45.

18. Silkeborg is a further inland location.

19. Quite a pleasant landscape to drive through.

20. Dutchmen think of Denmark being as flat as NL, but that's not true.

Sweden now has that merging sign as an official one, but its use is much more small scale.

You don't need the sticker if you have a Danish EU plate - Link with information (in Danish only)

Not just south of Aalborg, but on all of E45. According to the latest numbers (2007) there's an average of 63.800 in the bridge and 60.900 in the Aalborg tunnel. New numbers are comming soon according to Vejdirektoratet...

And we continue again on E45

22. Minor exit on the way to Skanderborg.

23. But it has a rest area.

24. Including a Statoil gas station.

25. We're getting closer to Aarhus, the second largest city in Denmark.

26. Skanderborg exit. 110 km/h limit.

27. Denmark has more trees than is generally percieved.

28. Some hills remind me more of the Ardennes than Denmark.

29. Another great view along the E45.

30. Skanderborg-Nord Exit.

Isn't that 120 just a recommendation speed sign, not an actual limit?

It could be, I wasn't sure about it's meaning. It's usually only for short sections of less than a kilometer.

35. Aalborg is the next control city.

36. The split. Some Aarhus exits follow the E45.

37. Distance sign. Aalborg is still over one hour driving time.

...Yes, we are crazy about this 110km/h limit near big cities and an 45km radius around Copenhagen.
