I thought this stadium (the stands in particular) was being demolished, in order to be rebuilt to a permanent all purpose stadium??

No idea.

But seeing the massive crowds at the recent Cecafa game it will be coming soon maybe in the next 8 months or so.

I have today led my team in the tarmacking of the Kivandini - Masinga road. Using the Super Maendeleo Chap Chap Philosophy, we are doing 100metres in a record 1 minute; 1 kilometer in 10 minutes. We have proven today that it can be done and we will continue to perfect it.
100 metres of tarmac in one minute?? That's fast, isn't it? Or is it just laying a blanket over earth? Coz that's just what it looks like..

To put it into context this is what exactly Mutua is doing.

I read that his engineers were shocked in learning that they could put a tarmac seal in just 2mins. If we adopt the video process above all rural roads in this country would be paved in 10 years.

There is no benefit to be derived from rushing the process. the desire to set records is apparent but was the road really done at the rate of a hundred metres a minute? Maybe if the base preparation will not be regarded as part of the process

I think Mutua is just trying to show the country that there is more than one way to skin a cat. This may not be suitable for most places but as a nation we should not settle. We need to keep looking for better and affordable solutions around the world and use what we learn to craft solutions that fit our problems.

We got the same images when he was tarmacking the Makutano Rd.

Anyway here’s a news clip of the said road.

Hiyo hapo Rongaiguy ni ufala ya ma-haters. He maynot be doing the roads in perfect geometry but he is finishing the dust and the easing movements.
Kina Kalonzo and Muthama would like people to keep thinking tarmac is not possible in their areas but Mutua has shown them the possibilities.

Lets assume this road was done fogothari like Wavinya Ndeti and crowd wants people to think, For it to get to the standards in those pictures a lot of traffic must have used it which is highly unlikely. Twitter link above shows the kind of vile people spew in the name of politics. The maendeleo Mutua has done for Machakos watu washasahau. I wish Wavinya wins in 2022 and see the direction she takes that county.

Agree;making these roads motor-able and the local economic benefits are both crucial elements. The problem of dust pollution and soil erosion shouldn't be underestimated either. Some of these regions of Kenya experiences perhaps too much of it. According to WHO, environmental factors(that could include exposure to dust, smoke, chemicals e.t.c ) could be a reason to a large number of respiratory tract infractions in the Country. The infections appears not to get as much attention in Kenya despite the high mortality rate.Respiratory infections could be killing more Kenyans than AIDS and road accidents combined every year. The medics in this forum should contribute as i expect they have own professional view on the subject.Anyone seen @ Kenguy lately for example?.

I had my doubts on the naysayers but a sports journalist Saadeque Shabaan has made me have doubts. He spent the last day trying to prove the veracity of the claims. If you head to his twitter feed he has updates

Politics aside, Mutua has done complete rubbish on those roads. He is no road engineer and maybe he watched a few YouTube clips on road construction in China and thought he could implement the same on the Machakos terrain using the locally available material. That's 150 Million lost and the road will need fresh tarmacking again a year down the line.

Have you used this road?

This is what Mutua is missing. Instead of using regular oil based Bitumen he needs to have his contractors use Bitumen Emulsion which will make his roads last longer.

Dee254 Unless you were in the boardroom meetings when he was showing those YouTube clips to his road engineers, hiyo yote ingine ni siasa. Unless you too are also a road engineer and have some experience with the method Mutua used to conclude it will need to be redone in 1 year, hiyo ni siasa.

I recall the nay sayers of the 33km road done in 3 months, wish you came across their comments and the pictures they posted of the road with potholes after a week of being commissioned. Siasa tupu.
