@AServinio: Will accept this 0-0 draw by the #Azkals against Malaysia because its the first match of Coach Dooley. Man of the Match is no doubt @PDeyto

Azkals dodge a bullet in Malaysia but debutantes impress
Quote:

How on earth did we not lose this game? Malaysia should feel terrible about not putting this one away in front of a full house at home. Amirizwan Taj had a terrific header goal waved off because of a silly shove on Rob Gier. Aidil Zafuan's superbly taken lean-back header hit the woodwork, as did Safee Sali's rocket of a diving header. Then Amri Yahyah's neat angled poke clangs off the inside of the post and rolled tantalizingly across the goal before exiting the goal line.

I don't like it when coaches and players say “we were unlucky” when they hit the goal frame. It's not an honest statement. When you are denied by the woodwork, you are not unlucky, you're really not quite good enough. It means you have just barely missed the target.

Malaysia facing sanctions for ‘embarrassing’ stoppage because of fans during Azkals friendly
Quote:

The Football Association of Malaysia could face sanctions because of a stoppage caused by local fans during an international friendly match against the Philippines last Saturday.

At the 32nd minute of Malaysia’s scoreless draw against the Azkals, the match was halted for eight minutes as fire erupted inside the stadium. Local reports said that a group of vocal supporters of about 1,000 known as “Ultras Malaya” threw flares and smoke bombs onto the track surrounding the pitch.

Rampaging Fullback: Five things we learned from the Azkals’ goalless draw versus Malaysia
Quote:
A new-look Philippine national men’s football squad held Malaysia to an entertaining goalless draw in Kuala Lumpur, with Thomas Dooley making his debut as new coach of the Azkals.

Malaysia will be disappointed with the draw, having dominated the first half of the game. The Philippines weathered the storm and improved in the second half and will be cautiously happy with the result.

Here are five things we learned from the game:

A Primer: Philippine Azkals v Azerbaijan
Quote:
Never mind the scheduled FIFA international friendly between the Philippine Azkals and our Southeast Asian neighbours Malaysia this Saturday, which in a way is a bedding in for new coach Thomas Dooley and a chance to get a peek at new and fringe players. Regional bragging rights apart, that match will probably offer us little more than what we already know about either team.

It is the next international friendly about Azerbaijan in Dubai that tickles the imagination as it opens a whole new realm of possibilities for Philippine football. It is stock knowledge to all and sundry that the Azkals are as yet too lightweight to take on Europe’s elite as some of our Asian neighbours now do on a regular basis.

The ultras Malaya just throwing flares to the side of the pitch as a protest to FAM. they want FAM to get sanction, because they are frustated with the FAM, its been 30 years and the same old folks are still there without any progress. They want change, after several meeting and dialoque with them, they (FAM ) just wont listen.

As a football lover myself, i dont think flares is criminal, its part of the the beautiful game. #No pyro no party

Hooliganism is not ultras bro, its different, Hooliganism is when you destroy public infrastructure and made riot because of football game. Ultras is just hard core fans with passion.

Cheers

Just borrowing the word used by your Youth and Sports minister Khairy Jamaluddin. I didn't intentionally place a meaning behind it.

Quote:
“It is a must to avoid any hooligans from bringing in any flares, smoke bombs and firecrackers during matches, which can clearly affect the players’ concentration and safety as well as that of other spectators,” he told New Straits Times.
Quote:
“This is an unacceptable action by some hooligans… it disturbed the game and safety of others in the stadium.”
I empathize with the Ultras though. They're very passionate about football. We have groups like that in PH as well, but it's about basketball.
