Fantastic Bileduct. Really is very good. 30 storey at Auchinleck house in pre-planning then? Brum's skyline really will be spreading if anything like this comes to fruitation.

"45 Colmore Row
22,000m² of Grade A office space on site of former Grand Hotel.
Developer: Hortons Estates/Richardson Barberry
Architects: Associated Architects
Status: Proposed. Go-ahead dependent on gaining approval to demolish Grade II listed Grand Hotel, which is currently being resisted."

WHAT????

I noticed they were doing something to this building on Sunday, I assumed they were either cleaning it or possible rebuilding while mainting the Facade, please don't say they're knocking this one down, for that.

time for me to come out of my long self-imposed exile. they must NOT bulldoze the grand and replace it with a box. i thought we'd got out of this sort of behaviour follwing that regrettable urban design period called 'the 60s'.
its a wonderful building that needs the kind of love and attention that developers seem to be lavishing on other grade II listed buildings

they are not doing anything with the grand hotel. this option was floated when they were pondering over what to do with it and would be VERY unlikely to go ahead!

Fantastic work. Very informative.

One you may have missed is the development of the Swan Shopping Centre, Yardley. I believe it is in for planning approval this week.

Bloody hell! I'm exhausted looking through all that! Lots of stuff there that I didn't know about.

Can there really be enough demand for all those new flats, though?

That's what I always think. Neighbouring Sandwell are also building new flatlets at an alarming rate but don't seem to be able to fill them up very quickly. But that's Sandwell.

I must admit I probably wouldn't have started if I'd realised how much there was, though nothing there's really new - it's pretty much all just culled from this forum with the details pasted in from the planning website. It's just that you don't realise just how much there is until it's all in one place.

As Bel suggests, this might be true of developers too - would people still be developing new proposals for flats if they realised how many were in the pipeline? On the other hand, people like Crosby and Redrow are still putting together more proposals at a hefty rate, and they must be in as good a position as anyone to know whether they can shift them on to punters.

Incidentally, as well as running roughshod over the IPR of every architect south of Carlisle there's bits of at least a few forummers photos in there too - there's definitely some stuff by Foxtrot, Mahill and Cargohold, and might be some more I've nicked inadvertently from forum postings too - hope that's OK.

I've got a half-done map too, I'll post it if i get a chance to finish it off...

Awsome update. The city is changing at such a huge rate.

Sorry to be a pain but a few details need changing. -
New bridley place should be changed to "site cleared, starts jan '07"
Also the arcadian apartments are well under way, not in for planning permission.
The Town hall, Holiday wharf, temple point, southside and Baskerville house should also be changed to complete.
