It's a conversion, extension and reclad job with partial demolition of the existing building.

The extension includes an additional 5 storeys on building A and an additional 3 storeys on building B.

the demolition is for removal of the existing bridge link of building B over St George's Walk and for the removal of links between buildings A & B from first floor level upwards.

One 50 storey tower. That will do nicely.

Also pleased to see One Lansdowne in the plans.

So what is happening with St Georges walk (and shops) then? Is it being retained or is it being updated/revamped? Always conspicious on the above plans by not being touched.

From what I can make out half is being removed and replaced, the half nearest grants, and the other half is being left untouched and not included in the plans, the half nearest st George’s house

Most of St Georges Walk is boarded up now with works well underway. Demo being delivered by https://twitter.com/JohnFHunt_Group/...22474668134400.

Interestingly I spotted that parts of the walk and other locations around Croydon made appearances in Black Mirrors Bandersnatch recently. A nice Swan Song I thought.

In a narrow slab like this, I think it must have been difficult to fit an elevator/lift core within the St George's Tower. I can see the bottom-most part of the lift core on post #16.

Also, how come the residential units start at the second floor of St George's Tower (like the renders show) instead of its third floor? The floor-to-ceiling heights of the first two floors of St George's Tower are higher than all of the other floors, so surely they'll be needed for residents' amenities and whatnot.

Ardmore awarded Queen's Square £100m redevelopment
PBC Today
July 2019
Quote:
R&F Properties has awarded Ardmore the £100m contract to deliver the first phase of their major regeneration of Queen’s Square, Croydon

The 5.5 acre site sits immediately opposite the Town Hall and Queen’s Gardens on Katharine Street, and the masterplan includes the redevelopment of the Nestle Tower, St George’s Walk, the Grade II listed Segas House and various other buildings, mostly from the 1960s, made up of shops on the ground floor and offices above.

The first phase of the project includes the conversion and extension of two existing office buildings, including the iconic 25-storey Nestle Tower, into a series of residential blocks of up to 28-storeys, providing 288 new homes.
