Former bus drop off area and metro station, demolition works - pictures 13/09/19

Things have moved on with demolition works around the South Shields new transport interchange since last pictures taken on day it opened to the public, 04/08/19, shown on my posts of 05/09/19

Pictures by myself from Friday 13/09/19 approx 1115 showing the situation at that time

Bus shelters gone, roadworks taking place on Keppel St and early stages of demolition works by Thompsons of Prudhoe to former metro station taking place

Demolition work begins on former South Shields Metro station before a new walkway into King Street is created

Demolition work begins on former South Shields Metro station

Work has started on the demolition of South Shields’s former Metro station following the opening of its £21m successor.

The building itself will then be taken down by a specialist contractor before a new walkway into King Street is created.

“Once the demolition work has been completed the work can start on transforming the public realm through to the main shopping areas on King Street.”
