khosroshahi garden, made into a public space
the house is absolutely beautiful, a true example of how luxurious houses/villas in iran especially in tehran, shomal and the northern half of the country should be built, based on traditional architecture, instead of those horrid villas we see today
its very elegant, nice and has roots

i would like my house to look like this

Its one of the most importanr ghajar era buildings of tehran in eshrat abad or saltanat abad (not sure)

It was a luxurious area with manu villas and pools etc

Sadly its a gone now
I wish they would rebuild jt

I hope they can turn it into a Museum. They keep complaining they are short of buildings that they can use as Museums.

emam hossein square
side streets
good to see these , but the buildings need to be rebuilt/organized, and they need to maximize the view of the square, the big metal things are too much, and also they need to lower the minarets

aluminum covers DONT help

injaro bekooban az no besazan modele sakhtemoon dast chapiye

esfahani style mosque with soviet minarets the mosque had a small shallow dome that matched the area
now its out of place
gand mizanan be HAMECHI

tehran in shah's time it was a unique city , modern buildings with the organized traditional buildings but look at now , what they have done to city , no beauty at all , sometime i look at tehran (except the rich part of city and north) it reminds me of baqdad , or modern baqdad special the ugly bridges.
it doesn't have anymore the old tehran's spirit , it doesn't have anymore the traditional architecture , yek shahre bi dar o peykar o ba memari haye mokhtalef o bi rabt. az yek taraf na borjaye modernemun modernan , az yek tarafam sakhtemunaye sonatimun har ruz daran kharab tar o kharab tar mishan.
we should renovate the whole city , the whole architecture and the whole buildings after we get rid of this government.

They just clean them up a bit but they dont do real renovations and rebuilding
Most of the buildings here have no value
They are just boxes from the 80s
If the government wants to do a real reno they need to dk it like dresden in germany
Rebuild the whole area
But in iran they just cover it up with cheap aliminum

I feel sorry for you guys

Tehran is still an unique city, both modern and old at the same time, I actually like how the mosques mix up with modern buildings, no other city has that

Stop telling your life story and acting like Iran is Afghanistan/Syria each time something doesn't go along with what you'd wanted

Show me old buildings
Other than golestan and a few old houses

There is no "old" city anymore
There is no core , no architectural heart
Its all gone

No other city has mosques and new buildings together? U mean besides every other city in the islamic world?
Besides
This isnt even a tehranesque style mosque
A real tehran mosque is sepahsalar
These are just garbage immitations of safavid domes
The mosque itself is a modern addition anyway

Uniqueness doesnt mean randomness, what we see in iran is irrelevant diversity
Tehran's upper half is far better though imo but the bottom half needs decades of work

whatever you guys say , tehran is amazing, it looks amazing and although it is not a historical city in general , but got many attractions
but the architecure of the city in some areas do not match and this should be stopped..
anyways.. i find tehran amazing, high class ,clean ,modern and even organized comparing to many european cities i have been
(in european cities, they just make their city center or central or centur or centre or kentrom beautiful , just some streets or maximum some areas in center are looking so clean and nice and when you go out of center...?!!! most of european cities are like that and i went and saw it myself
tehran is exactly the opposite, center is not so clean and nice, this is the mistake the munucipality is doing )

Tehran is an amazing city
Nobody denies that, we are just mentioning the specific architectural traits
It already has many good areas but the whole city needs to be made like that
Especially the center
And the south
There needs to be a major master plan for all our cities

you should feel sorry for your government.
who said tehran is not an amazing city? read my post again i wrote: "except the north and west parts" which means half of the city.tehran is clean , nice no doubt.but the down town and east is horrible.you can't hide the truth.
also IR ruined a lot our great cities architect by their stupid decisions.
look at this :
it's called "khane malek" in mashhad which is museum , a house with 80 years , a great example of modern persian architecture.

everything looks perfect but when you see around the house...

YOU find this ! what is this goh? building an ugly aluminum 5 floors building next to one of the oldest houses in mashhad!
but this isn't the only problem.
when you see it precisely...

building another fugly building next to the house!
that's why i'm saying our cities don't have their beautiful, art architecture anymore.their old spirit.
but this is nothing. you can find worse than this in tehran , tabriz and other cities. and this is all because of our beloved government who is enemy to iranian culture/architect. don't be surprised if in 5 years they build a water park next to nader shah's tomb.
tell me , which "unique" city in the world has this organization? in which European city you can find ugly aluminum building in the most center of the historical sites?
modern building? what do you mean by modern building?
modern city? look at this building : its called pars building on of the most expensive building in tehran in a rich part of city.

but i lough when people call this a "modern" building when you see this picture from a country top of from iran :

this isn't usa , europe , china nither japan, this is astana! when some hundred years ago they were part of iran , but look where are they now and where are we!
mosques mix up with modern buildings?you mean this?

are you sure you can't find in another city? nah i don't call that mosques mix up with modern buildings. but i can say this one:

another picture from astana.
look at their deveploment and look at us. they are developing but our cities every day worse and worse. I swear to you , in five years they will build a water park near to nader shahs tomb.
wake up my dadash , wake up.
sorry for the post, ama khodamo bayad khali mikardam.

And you think no other city in the world does this?

There are cities/governments that literally run over their historical stuff with a bulldozer, the house in the picture seems to be relatively well-managed

I agree that the buildings next to it are a bit out of place, I'm a fan of old buildings mixing up with new ones but it has to be done the right way

Iran has a population of over 75 million, they can't prevent building around every single historical house, that's like saying that they should build a skyscraper next to Persepolis

If this was another country you wouldn't say anything, but as soon as it comes to Iran it's a disaster, don't you have more respect for your country?

Also comparing Iranian cities to Astana... you should never compare a country under severe bans to a country with normal relations with western countries. Face the reality.

hold on guys,enough...
we all have a same idea that urban problems in our cities are becoming less.
just compare 2013 tehran and 2003 tehran!
those years we called tehran the gray city!or the great village!
but now it all is changing.I know pace is low,but it is changing
in tehran I prefer all of u to go to grand bazar or hasan abad sq or the streets around the forign ministry or naser khosro st...thet are cool almost...have traditonal interests.
now minucibility is deciding to make streets around the ministry like bazar.
or modern areas of city.mirdamad, hemmat, chamran, elahie and many more...
I live in narmak in east of tehran,it is really nice and beautiful guys, they are working hard, just with low pace.about other cities I hope too. mashad, tabriz, isfahan, shiraz, urumia, ahwaz, this are good, but kust need a great step....
sorry for talking a lot
