Some shots on a rainy day from a bus on an outdated phone (which randomly turned itself off shortly after despite having full battery):

Main change is that it looks like construction of the actual store element is above ground now.

Sainsbury's is now covered in banners and signs announcing that it will close permanently on Sunday, and saying (not entirely accurately) tha the nearest alternative branch is at Clapham Common (I presume they are discounting the rather dubious small branch under the arches at Vauxhall station).

Here's a last look at what turned out to be an innovative and apparently successful - but short lived - temporary building (a video from AccioGroup who built the movable supermarket building). As I understand it, the temporary store is designed to be easily reassembled elsewhere - interesting to see where it pops up next.

This is definitely not part of the original Sainsbury's plan - it means losing a year of trade at least, and mayube some more of the longer term local trade, to the big Tesco in Kennington (which covered the area with advertising when the previous big branch closed), from what looked like a profitable store, and presumably redeploying or losing a significant number of staff - all of which suggests some significant cash must have changed hands.

But in terms of Nine Elms and the northern line, this is real and quick progress!

Separately I've noticed that the arches under the adjacent railway have been cleared of tennats and bundled into the building site, with something going on in some of them at the moment (they're due to be refitted to become small restaurants / shops; I presume in collaboration with their landlord Spacia).

Not great photos as over 3 year old iPhone 4s combined with dusk, but here are a few shots from last night. Looks like the main Supermarket part of the development is now well under way.

looks like the tower core will be heading upwards pretty soon

Nice, I didn't think they were working on the main tower yet as they haven't started marketing it.

Yeah I didn't think they were going to build the tower any time soon either, from what I very vaguely remember reading. But it does look exactly like skygardens did immediately before we got a core rising - change of plan I suppose?

I guess the construction of the flats could be completely independent of the marketing of the flats. I had noticed before the area had been cleared and ground works begun, but the lack of tower cranes at this side of the site made me think they were just using the equipment when it was on site.

Is there any chance this isn't them main tower, but is a core for the apartments above the supermarket? It's hard to tell from the photo exactly where it is on the site.

I'd say it's about here:

photo taken from blue dot; if you compare to the render below from yellow dot, it's hard to see how it could not be the tower, imo. But it is, of course, quite possible I'm wrong and it's for an adjoining midrise block

The low rise looks too small to need a core. The rest of the low rise U/C on site is using a concrete frame construction, so I'd imagine those low rises by the railway arches would use the same construction method. The location does also look right for the tower.
