Now we look at The YARD. Move in is only four days away, so theyre really scrambling.

These pictures were taken 5 days ago, and show the new lighting.

20160816_203511 by James Sinclair, on Flickr

New crosswalk

20160816_203648 by James Sinclair, on Flickr

Cobra light has been removed

20160816_203659 by James Sinclair, on Flickr

However, although the cobra was ugly, it provided very good light over the crosswalk! The new lighting is actually less safe.

20160816_203758 by James Sinclair, on Flickr

Speaking of lighting, it is so, so, so inconsistent.

The brand new Honors Hall

Lighting on the street, but NOT at the crosswalk

George Street

20160816_204809 by James Sinclair, on Flickr

And THREE different lighting fixtures in 10 feet!

20160822_191638 by James Sinclair, on Flickr

But im getting ahead...back to the Yard

The ground floor is open to the public. These photos are a few days old...and whats amazing is the pictures further down will show that after making the area look done, theyve since gone back and made it a giant construction site!

What is up with that Jumbotron screen next to the dorms?

The quality of the materials for the new dorms and academic buildings is quite spectacular. If only the other buildings in the city were treated as well.

As far as the roads are concerned, the town is at a weird conflict between the increasingly urban scale of the city and the suburban modernist mindset of the county and state. Just look at the County Engineer's office, set behind an enormous parking lot. It back up to a back street, but solid walls and an iron fence block any access from there. It is said that they design based on what they see.

The Jumbotron will offer year round video programming. News, football games, movies etc. Open to the public. It was up and running today showing baseball.

I have tons of pics of the inside, Ill upload tomorrow hopefully.

I never realized that was the engineer office and I walk past it frequently. The parking lot is dreadful, and just 2 minutes from the train.

So I actually did visit the Academic Building on opening week, and here are some shots of it (again, early September)

Youll note that many building features were NOT finished when the building opened. I assume they have been since, although I havent checked.

This hasnt changed
