Interesting, slightly similar to 2-3 Finsbury Avenue.

it's like a cross between 2-3 Finsbury Ave and the building that's there at the moment

This proposal is a huge improvement on the current building.

Which is not hard, I like it.
It's nice to see some solidity in the elevations and not just glass which I think would of been inappropriate for the area.

Seems like someone is on personal mission against me to demolish/turn into flats every office I've ever worked in in London! This would make it number 7.

I walk past this every day to work, and I have to say it's a really odd place for a tower of this height. Probably twice the height of the existing building which is utterly anonymous, but has some of that post-war charm that mid rise offices in London sometimes have.

This will do nothing for the skyline, I hate the fact that there are so many buildings randomly dotted about the place. And then there are all the mini clusters as well. Just looks so disjointed and messy.

It's about 200 meters from the London Wall cluster to the South, and about 200 meters from the Old Street cluster to the North. The Broadgate cluster is also expanding Westwards towards Finsbury Square Garden, about 300 meters away. Not completely isolated in my view.

The tower appears to be office space. The only residential element seems to be a 6 story affordable block with just 25 units.

Hmm... I'm not convinced. I think it would stand out like a sore thumb and would not go down well with the locals. It's a nice looking development though, undeniably; the brickwork and muted tones of the residential portion really work well.

And it would look great in this picture you posted:

Very clean, technical design, nearly german. could easily be a Frankfurt proposal. London's fit for some more candy on the waffles.

According to the planning application it's an extension of the existing tower, extension of podium (both providing office space) and then the creation of a new 6 storey block with affordable housing.

Looks good to me and love that it is increasing office provision AND providing affordable housing.

I can not see that this design is any improvement on what is already there.....

I like the 'masonry' look of the tower, think it complements the older and historic without being a pastiche. It definitely seems much more integrated - and offering a much more pleasant - streetscape.

Don't mind the new version but do prefer what's there already.

Castle is a bit of a grandiose term, but it's Armoury House.

Have regular events and whatnot, so you could always pop down if you get the chance.
