Is there some unspoken rule in Chicago that nothing can be taller than the Sears/Willis Tower? Aside from the Chicago Spire (rip), all proposals seems to get close to it's height but never quite surpassing it.

Anyway, this is a really nice proposal but my feelings are kind of mixed. On one hand it looks like something that belongs in Shenzhen China, not Chicago.. but then I also feel it wouldn't be right to leave Chicago's skyline stuck in the 80's/90's. But hey, either way, can't say no to something this tall in the U.S.! Build it build it!

I like that this tower will give more fuel to the spire debate. It will be so close to Trump Tower which officially is one foot taller with its spire, but people will make up their own minds about which tower is really taller.

This will be the best supertall in N. America! Is it approved, how likely will this be built?

Maybe it doesn't seem that legit, but the site itself is a great opportunity/location to building something awesome someday.

It's fun to dream... and at least there are 3 other supertalls in the works in Chicago to hold us over.

I would actually consider this an improvement over the KK100. I like how the curved facades on either side rise up above the middle portion of the tower rather than just meeting in the middle.

So beautiful!!! So elegant!!!
Even with all the tallest towers proliferating across China, Chicago is still the epicentre of tall buildings!

Oh man. People are liking this?

I HATE this thing. Just what the skyline needs - a 1422 ft tweezers. It doesn't play well with the existing structures in the area and it mutilates the skyline. As others have said, it looks like something that belongs in one of those third-tier interior Chinese cities you've never heard of that suddenly has a population of 10 million and hires a second-rate architect to design an "iconic" building to show it's arrived on the international scene.

The gently curving facade and crown necessitated (I assume) by the high height to width ratio along with the desire not to displace 432 Park Ave. in New York as the most hated supertall in the U.S. for its blandness simultaneously comes off as too timid and yet still clashes with almost every other building in the entire skyline. This thing does NOT look like it belongs in Chicago.

Height is always nice of course. But not on a postage stamp sized lot. I really hope this is just preliminary and this thing gets a total redesign. Frankly I'd even prefer a 600 ft blue glass box to this - at least that would not call attention to itself for all the wrong reasons.
