Two major Midtown owners in talks for joint Park Avenue tower

Quote:
It could be a decade away, but two major building owners are discussing a joint venture to build a new office tower on Park Avenue.
Under the plan, Vornado Realty Trust would contribute the land under its office building at 350 Park Ave. and Rudin Management its mid-block tower at 40 E. 52nd St.

Such a deal would mean demolishing the current structure and building a new tower with a nicer and larger floor plate under the East Midtown zoning rules.
Vornado’s sits on the entire blockfront between East 51st and 52nd streets, while Rudin’s mid-block building at 40 E. 52nd St. sits right behind it with entrances on both side streets. This is a 23-story tower with 385,000 square feet and its main tenant, BlackRock, is moving to Hudson Yards and will leave it empty in roughly four years.

Sources said the firms have already discussed leasing such a new tower to a major company

[...]

Rudin and Vornado also could renovate their current properties or even take them down and rebuild separately.

NYC could have a dozen 400m+ supertalls in the near future. Insane.

Unreal. Something different. Love that it orients itself towards Queens.

Looks like a taller 425 Park Avenue.. but for some reason in the renders it doesn't look like 1350ft. I'm very curious to see how the back of this building looks

New York City is on its way to look just insane in a few years. Insane in a good way. Hopefully once a 450m plateau is created a megatall will finally be build. :-)

Absolute stunner. I thought after Steinway/CPT, we would hit a lull. But thankfully it looks like the boom continues apace

They really need to put a nicer facade on the end of the building and it's unlit. Interesting design though. Park Avenue is sure going to be the 400m bitch in the 2020s.

If this is a Fosters design then Park Avenue will have 3 fosters towers with 2 of them being supertalls!

Amazing. For comparison Dubai has "only" 8 if you count ALL the proposals including those on hold, and even Shenzhen would just equal that at a dozen if you add up all of their proposals. While it may not have a mega tall it seems like NYC is one of the few places in the world where a multitude of 400m tall supertalls are economically feasible

Strange that there are no renderings showing what the flat verticle side looks like. I love the side that is featured so hopefully the other side isnt just a bland glass wall.
