Interesting, if they were that close to resolving it once im sure an agreement can be met a second time, so personally don't expect this to be held up to much, anyone got any idea what height this would be then.....

As Woodhousen suggested, around the same height as Snow Hill 2.

Ok thanks. In which case that seem reasonable in my opinion especially if it were to be quite an inconic building of say the same stature as the Cube....

quite possibly a bit of a mis-guided decision then really.. They could have had a purpose built unit near those student flats and the CCTV centre on the Perry Barr route, unless of course they are speculating themselves. It could have left this space blank and ready for a new office block.

having had dealing with the site in the past, the police are very protective of their building, and you can understand why... whilst the land owner of llyod house does seem keen to develop, i understand the WM Police have a huge lease which inhibits any redevelopment ... unless of course the police are also interested in a redevelopment, although with current funding constraints, i wouldnt have thought so...

i suppose the 15 storey limit is in line with 2 snow hill.... and whilst there is approval for a 140m tower, a 120m tower and a 90m tower round the corner, i suppose this is rirectly next door....

well anyway, i think the proof of the pudding will be in the application for the second phase... watch this space!!!

But Neil Elkes from BirminghamMail said that the 15 storey tower was the second phase..but then again you can't rely on some of stuff he writes...

n but i mean the detail of this tower... the first phase is purely the foundations and car park.... the devil in the detail will be the detailed application for the second phase

I think the first phase of this is likely to start some time in the near future.

I'm sure someone said preparatory works were starting on site already?

So the first phase is to create a 6 floor underground car-park which is not even going to be noticed straightaway! How long do we think it will be for the work to progress upwards and will the current structure sustain the new-build on top if that's what they plan?

With work progressing on the car park I suspect we'll see a full detailed planning app before the year is out.

When did we see the outline? end of 2010 early 11?

last year we saw the outline.

yes id imagine that we will be seeing a planning application soon. Whilst the car park will produce some revenue, i cant imagine it would cover the cost of works involved in constructing the car park.. ive be acssuming that the development above is what will make the money?!
