Up she goes.

I do lose my view of the river with every new building, so while I'm keen for development, always hard to be super enthusiastic when their built in my few remaining viewing gaps.
(Though it does motivate me to walk to the river more often though).

I do love watching the construction though, so only a small compromise.

I'd say we'll see the concrete pour for level one soon

This really starting to move along now...although I reckon the weather in Hobart over the next few days might slow it down a bit!

I hope they took the advice of the Urban Design Advisory Panel and lost some of the black on the facades though.

Could be quite a gloomy looking building otherwise.

The permit had been amended a couple of times, so I’d say so.

This is another project with a weirdly absent internet footprint. Nothing on UTAS’s website, nothing on the architect’s website, barely a word on the financing consortium’s website. Not even a render to be found that wasn’t in the DA.

Lovely image Tasmanian.

There is also quite a nice spot for a photo or two if you wander down the laneway next door to the site. I checked it out on saturday but did not have my camera with me...nothing yet from my spies on the final facade treatment.

OK.

My spies have come back to basically say that it will be a grey concrete facade with a little less black than before. So, its going to be pretty close to the UTAS apartments across the road.

Mmm. Seems to be a case of whatever is the easiest and cheapest to be build and will need the least maintenance is the default position for Hobart's current crop of buildings...

But, my spies could be wrong in which case we will all find out once the upper levels start to take shape later in year.

There's an article in today's Mockery basically just saying the westbound lane of Melville street will be closed for 17 months between Argyle and Elizabeth street to allow for the loading of the tower crane. Trees and root zone prevent using more of the footpath.

O1 you were correct. They're loading in now dark grey textured panels to form the basis of the facade.

The road was planned to be reduced to one lane from June, however was pushed back till the end of August. Not to open till December 2020 at the earliest.

Check out the Crowne Plaza in the background, it's really coming along now.

The white really brings it to life.

One of those textured panels. I wonder if the whole facade will be done in these. Might look ok, reminiscent of the state library stack lol.
