Wonder if it's in line with the rest of the Molineux Quarter vision.

Moving from Castle Hill. I guess when the Metro comes along we could see some redevelopment of Castle Hill.

George House to become 43 apartments. Good to see housing in this part of town. With the BT offices too, should be a lot more people around here.

https://consultation.wolverhampton.gov.uk/cwc/a4123/

Quote:
Overview

The consultation is to investigate options to improve transport links and pedestrian provision along the A4123 Birmingham New Road in the Black Country between A4150 (Wolverhampton Ring Road) in the north to A456 Hagley Road in the south. The questionnaire will record how the public travels along the A4123, what problems they experience and how they can be improved.

A high speed bus link between Wolverhampton and Dudley would help if they could get journey times below 20 minutes through limited stops.

I think we’ll see a segregated dual cycle lane like the ones in Birmingham installed on the pavements along the road, no doubt there will be one down Hagley road to five ways in the near future too so would all tie in together

As for bus lanes I hope they don’t take any space from the car users or it’ll have serious impact on traffic - they should introduce a 3rd lane at approaches to junctions for busses to catch up at traffic lights and get to the front of the queue with a head start before the car lanes go onto green

Can’t remember where I’ve seen that setup on a similar road but it worked quite well

Have heard some rumours and it's sounding like Primark Wolvo will get a refurb in situ, with no extensions or replacement. Positive but not positive enough and leaves Debenhams' building in the lurch.

Pets at Home, St John's, are moving into the Maplin unit. Before Next opened we had a planning app to create a large Next incorporating the Pets at Home unit, though when Next opened it was small and just used PC World. So could we see the wall knocked through and a larger Next? (Should have been some 44,500 sq ft).

Edit: No.

While the app says Pets at Home, the signage says "FS Flooring Superstore".

But we do have an app for Pets at Home to move into the former Next unit, so...

So Wolvo is getting government funding designed to help get projects going that are "shovel ready". Could be good for Westside - or Southside?

Was posted by Sefton in the retail thread.

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/m...s-high-streets

Quote:
Over 50 areas across the country – from Whitehaven in Cumbria to Penzance in Cornwall – are going through to the second phase of a multi-million fund that will transform their high streets and make them fit for the future, High Streets Minister Jake Berry MP confirmed today (5 July 2019).

From improving transport and access into town centres to converting retail units into new homes, the £675 million Future High Streets Fund will help local leaders to reinvent their town centres.

Those successful towns will now receive up to £150,000 of new funding to work up detailed project proposals, based on their initial plans. Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government will work closely with them, focussing on those places that have “shovel ready” projects where there might be opportunities to accelerate these.

Any news on what the old Toys R Us is becoming in Oldbury or will it remain as is for the time being?

Starbucks in the Mander Centre is closing permanently on August 11th. A very strange move if you ask me but I'm told it's due to extortionate rent.
