Pretty soon, Wowowee and Eat Bulaga will be seen in outlying areas.

Will this be the tallest structure in the Philippines, if ever?

Edit: Just checked, it's twice as high as the current tallest building. When finished, it will be one of the country's most iconic structures.

Dont get me wrong coz this is an amazing project, a monumental feat for the philippines, a major tourist attraction but 2016 completion date for a 600+meter tower with shopping mall etc etc. They must have hired superman to help build this thing.

Yay...yet another mall...

I wonder how they will incorporate the convention centre, hotel and other stuff with this transmitter tower? I doubt it will actually be part of the tower.

I'm guessing it will be similar to the Stratosphere in Las Vegas? But without the observation deck and rides since ultimately, this is a communcations tower first and foremost...

If its just going to be a transmitter tower with a steel structure, it can easily be done. The other stuff would come later...if ever.

Here is an example...

KATV Tower at 2000 feet.

From the Filipino article posted on the 1st page, it says it will have "observation deck, revolving restaurant, souvenir shops, viewing areas at exhibition spaces upang humimok ng mga turista at investor sa bansa."

Ok, I must have missed that one. So it will be just like the Stratosphere with the observation deck, revolving restaurants, etc. Should be good and therefore I like it now!

what i like about this tower is that it serves a lot of purpose especially with disaster mitigation. i feel that this is greatly supported by the national govt. lagyan n din ng doppler at ibat ibang radar. haha.

most likely baka mala canton tower o tokyo skytree ang design. may meaning kaya ang 612m? independence day?

overused na nga ang diamond. pero baka may diamonds nga sa design. lets wait mga pards.haha

tawagin na ang pinakamabilis na gumawa ng matapos ng 2016. ahaha

The Mitsubishi's logo may have something to do with the "Diamond" in the tower's name. So it's under Japanese ODA, madami na naman Japanese contractors kikita dyan...

Nope. The 'Diamond' came from the 75th founding anniversary of Quezon City.

“The mayor gave us the go-signal to collaborate with Mitsubishi (for) groundbreaking on Oct. 12, the city’s 75th founding anniversary,” he told the Manila Standard.

It can refer to both.

Quote:
The name "Mitsubishi" refers to the three-diamond emblem. "Mitsubishi" is a combination of the words "mitsu" and "hishi." "Mitsu" means three. "Hishi" means water chestnut, and the word is used to denote a rhombus or diamond shape. As customary, "hishi" is pronounced "bishi" when it forms a latter part of a word, hence the combination of "mitsu" and "hishi" reads "mitsubishi."

Its just a matter of time before MM will host Supertalls. Major developers can work together for a true iconic landmark that will be a proud representation of our country.

Quezon City had always been the place for building TV Towers. There is even one here that is over 280 m but it not listed as it is not a skyscraper.

From how I see, it will resemble that of Tokyo Skytree.
