The following news is directly related to the quote above: due to unexpected ridership increase on the Bratislava-Komarno line, Regiojet has to increase capacity without lengthening trains (platforms lengths and rail crossings!).

It has bought some second-hand 2nd generation double-deck coaches from DB (DBz 750, also known as Schindler-Dosto's as these were derived from the S-Bahn Zürich coaches) and plans to operate them in a top-tail configuration with Siemens EuroRunners.

I'm wondering why they are choosing EuroRunners instead of Traxx DE's (since Bombardier is the preferred manufacturer at Regiojet now). Probably because EuroRunners are already approved for operation in SK for some years (Express Rail operates them in SK).

Edit:Some pictures of the trial operations are at Railcolornews

It wasn't unexpected at all, ridership on this line is constantly growing every year. However, only at the beginning of this year, Ministry for transport came with an initiative to increase the capacity by introducing double-deck trainsets. RegioJet itself had no interest in doing so (this company is quite infamous here for often breach of contract with Ministry and not very fair business practices).

Mainly because this is just temporary solution for about year and half - current contract with RegioJet lasts only until the end of 2020, therefore EuroRunners were only leased and not bought.
I assume that in new contract for operating Bratislava - Komárno line, brand new (double-deck) units will be required.

Today, the first double-deck trainset (yet without control car) entered service on route S70 Bratislava hl.st. - Komárno:

Carriages will receive soon also typical yellow livery, this is how they are supposed to look like:

Corncerning window bands, they really should take some inspiration from NS which have executed this properly on their (non-renovated) VIRM trainsets.

The renovated versions have reversed the window band (continuing on the lower floor instead of the upper floor before) and don't look as good as the original version.
Also the German Alex double-deck coaches have an elegant scheme to fit in with the rest of the single-deck coaches.
