Yes I have been there. As I said it's a great city. But lacks the metropolitan diversity imo. No skyscrapers of course can be built in the old town district, but there's not impossible to expand the city and build more and other interesting buildings. Like those photos up here in this thread. Some of them look like they need some renovation. And the area around these buildings can be developed in a way to make Prague much more of a metropol in the international sense with highrises/skyscrapers etc. It's just an idea for future Prague

Other Buildings

Ahooj everyone. I am originally from Prague Czech Republic and go there often. Although I have been coming here for a long time this is my first post. So if it doesnt work as I planned some hints would be good. :-)

Na Zdravi!

Lighthouse

Tancici Dum / Dancing Building also known as Ginger & Fred.

Not a skyscraper, but a must see Frank Gehry's architecture.

Danube House

I will post more later. By the way, how do I post something that's on my computer, all of these are internet linked pictures. Thanks for your input.

Yes well you should visit the one in the About the Forums section:

However I will probably move this thread to the Your Cities later, so know where to find it

@Herzarsen: welcome to the forum! Glad to see more Czechs here!
Frank Gehry's buildings he has done are funny looking. I wonder if he made this one in Sopot in northern Poland right by the sea...

Thanks for your input and help 3tmk and alex_d.

CVRKI, I love that building too!

Thats a cool looking building in Poland AdamT!

Greetings Timoth12.

I wanted to answer something. First of all fishfanger your pictures are great. The problem is the scanning lowers the quality. And hope everyone understands that. And some of the buildings that he has posted such as City Empiria (middle on the picture bellow) and City Tower (left on the picture bellow) are in process of renovation (actually City Empiria just finished). The City Tower has never been finished and new design is of the tallest czech building is orchestrated by architect Richard Meier. It will be completed in 2007 I believe. The whole area surrounding the buildings is being redevelopped and new buildings will be built.

The new look for City Tower. (The one on the left)

Also to reply to other comments, Prague is developing quite nicely. From urban point of view I like the fact that there will not be all the adimistrative buildings right in the city center. That causes too much traffic, as people living in suburbs have to commute downtown. Plus unless the city is well planned can cause the city center to be ghost town when people go back home at night. I have been to cities like that in the US.

Some more pictures. Enjoy

The Park

BB Centrum, Budova Alpha (Building Alpha)

And then you have single office buildings of which some of them are near down town.

Portheimka Center

Pankrac House

But yes, I dont expect any skyscrapers to be built in Prague any time soon. Maybe some more buildings that will be around 100 meters and equal the hight of existing City Empiria and City Tower. Builds that are too tall would not fit with the rest of the city. But wouldnt you agree that it doesnt really matter? Great architecture doesnt have to be a skyscraper.

My photos looks old, but is almost new, expect two of them. I have no digital camera, I must scan pictures from photos, so that is the reason.
I think I am one and only man from Czech Rep, who is intrested about skyscrapers and highrisebuilding. Do you know other Czech?
I have some my photos of Prague at www.emporis.com (www.skyscrapers.com), I think

finally someone from Czech Rep.

[QUOTE=Herzarsen]

Those are the examples of fine architecture.
@Herzarsen: you could create the Prague under construction thread in Euroscrapers forum, or in the World News and Developments forum. Ort possiblz post the pictures from the Prague old, or new architecture in various forums. I´ m sure they will attract quite a lot of attention .

Ahoj Prase1!

You definatelly should visit. I have been going to Prague every summer and I have a great time every single time.

Some more projects for your enjoyment.

Bredovsky Dvur

Thought I include this one, even though its few years old, but its similar style of old and new as the one above.

Argentinska Hvezda/Argentine Star (Planning Stages)

City Point (Completed)

Behind it you can see the City Tower that just begun to be renovated.

Korunni Dvur (Under Construction, Office and Residential Project)

It is a redevelopment of former brewery industrial complex. Again combination of preserving old and incorporating new modern architecture.
