Thats incredible!!! =)

I got the image from the Development Commission website (.Pdf). The city of Portland is going to look awesome with the developments of the south waterfront and the Burnside area.

The skyline literally doubles in size with the new south waterfront towers. Density and the amount of new buildings going up makes the skyline look awesome. It actually looks like a "big-city" now.

Some renderings of the waterfront by the Pearl Dist. The skyline is growing by leaps and bounds.

Also, what is the height restriction for towers in the city of Portland?

Honestly, I'd love to see a 60floor tower. However, I'd rather have a cluster of 20-40 story towers than a few 600footers.

I'm not sure if this project has been brought up in this thread but the Ladd Tower (21 story, 260') is on it's way to being built. The design is very nice, but the developement commish wants the building to fit in more with the surroundings. It's in probably one of the nicest urban areas in the country, Park Block (Park Ave.). Here are some renderings. Groundbreaking is this fall.

Pearl Disctrict Safeway. This design was obviously to please the design commish to have the building fit in with the 'classic-pearl' theme:

The recent commotion over the fate of the so-called “gay triangle” building at Southwest 12th and Stark is nothing if not a reminder that this city is on the verge of great change.
Quote:
Two years ago, says Jeff Joslin of the city’s Bureau of Development Services, they were presented with about a dozen building projects for review. Last year there were 20.

This year, the bureau is reviewing proposals for “roughly 50 major building projects” in the downtown area, the lion’s share of which are for condos and apartment buildings.

Better look now, because pretty soon you’re not going to recognize the place.
Portland is in the midst of the biggest Urban Development in the entire country. They already hold that title with the South Waterfront projects, the city is going to look awesome with all the new projects.

That waterfront project looks amazing! As do some of those new skyscrapers. I'll be sure to give Portland a visit sometime soon. Oregon is already one of my favorite states, but this only makes me want to visit Portland more!
