Looks can be deceiving.

It's right on Library Walk, very close to Price Center.

a couple of observations:

• this mind-blowing thread really proves a picture is worth a thousand words. I am struck here about how UC differs from other such university systems: there are no "junior campuses"; everyone of them is a legitamate location, large and complete in nature.

• Does UC short change San Francisco? Would it have been better if UCSF had developed into more than a medical center and had been a full service university? Of all the UC's, UCD (agriculture) and UCSF (med center) were off shoots of Cal. Yet Davis expanded to a full service university; UCSF did not. I realize that a San Franciscan can easily commute to Berkeley by BART, but if the LA area warrants having UCLA, UCR, UCI, why can't the Bay Area have two full-service institutions in both Berkeley and San Francisco?

• UCLA needs like to boost its prestige and academic reputation, but does UCLA benefit from the following (to any degree): only Cal and UCLA, among the UC's, have Pac Ten membership?

Unless I missed something, being buried in a sea of fantastic photography, are we down to UCSB? Or have I miscounted somewhere along the way?

It's highly unlikely that UCSF will be a full service university. There's simply no space to build one. That's why UCSF has campuses all over SF, Parnassus Heights, Laurel Heights, Mission Bay, Mount Zion, SF General, and Veterans Affairs Medical Center. UC Davis has the space to expand to a full service university UCSF doesn't. It would be interesting to see what it would be like to have UCSF as a full university, but unless we make space for one, it's not going to happen. As for Berkeley being the only full service university in the Bay Area, sometimes Santa Cruz County is counted as part of the Bay Area so you might be able to count UC Santa Cruz. Plus we have Davis and Merced nearby. It's not the same but they're close enough.

And yes, UCSB is next.
