Wow, this storm has been well welcomed by me, today it was very nice and balmy 68 with a humidity of around 65%. They were saying we should have gotten rain but I think only cities north of around San Mateo were getting any rain today.
Yes, people from tampa would know . See here in California were wimps so start we calling rain dangerous tropical storms. Seriously, there were flooding alearts for South
Marin, San Francisco, and North San Mateo counties on Sunday, it was raining pretty hard (at least for Bay Area)
It came from Hawaii, it's the "Pineapple Express." At the top of Mount Tam... (I dont know how to spell it so i'll leave it at that) There were 100 mph winds.
Basically in California the stronger storms coming out of the south are considered Tropical Storms. (even though they are a lot less strong than the ones in Florida for example)
I live on the Peninsula near Redwood City, (which was 71 yesterday, pretty nice)
We've not really gotten the rain they were talking about for the past 2 or 3 days. Sunday was pretty damn rainy, but other than that we got a few drops really early this morning.
Here's some pictures I have from last night and this morning.
^Yes its usually around afternoon and its a sunny 90+ degree day and suddenly you see black clouds coming and loud rumbles of thunder and then its starts pouring and i mean pouring you will get soaked in seconds and then thunder is every few seconds and within a few hours its gone and sunny again. Thats why i like summer the storms
No we get tropical storms and possibly hurricanes thats florida not Tampa Bay we usually just get the light part of hurricanes. Remember hurricane season is June-Nov i think most are in July-Sept
^i felt the same way when i moved to Dallas for a year boring rain maybe one or two times you will hear thunder, wow :sleepy:
BTW those pics of the sunrise are nice you should got some of the buildings and trees outta the way though.
WA state also have fair share of pineapple express storms, too. IT can warm up to upper 50's to low 60's with rain. It's like bringing tropical moisture from Hawaii to WA state.
There was no lightning here but we got lotsa rain. I like getting the pineapple express in winter. I think the overnight low was only like 8-10C (46-50F) last night, and that's pretty uncommon here in winter.
Last night in South bay was 60. It was really nice, I was walking about in shorts and t-shirt at 1:30 am in the middle of december and was not cold at all. We may not have 4 distinct seasons, but there certainly are advantages to California weather.
Well, after weeks of good weather, it finally rained with very high winds. From what the meteorologist are saying, there's a chance of rain for the whole week. I volunteered to help out in a car wash in my school this Saturday and from the looks of things, it's most likely going to be postponed.
