Yes, several times. For exemple Antwerp ring road is a very good infrastructure. Better for far that our A86 (sometimes only 2 lanes) or A104 (Francilienne) in Paris (boulevard peripherique is not an highway).

But my 1st experience when I crossed border going to brussels, was very bad. Highway was catastrophic. I thought there was administrative problem and lack of maintenance.

You just described Belgium in 2 paragraphs.
I bet you went via the E19 and not via E17?

Spain does not always uses the correct roadnames, has multiple names for the same roads which is confusing. They are even working on updating this mess. Dutch highways resemble spanish much more than German on a lot of things (lines, signs, exits,...)

The renovated parts of german highways are a nightmare during rain or in the dark. They do not use reflectors and cat eyes like Spain, Morocco and The Netherlands and use a bad sort of asphalt (like in Belgium) that keeps a lot of water on the road and makes it very hard to see in the dark. Dangerous turns also are hardly marked by signs like in Spain.

you're right about the resemblance between dutch and spanish signs even though i still like them i don't know why maybe because they're different from what i see everyday on the Autobahn. By the nearly 1:1 i meant in terms of density, barriers, style of driving...etc
Regarding the Asphalt the old one (used in the 60s till 90s which cover 80% of west Germany's Autobahn ) ja you're right it keeps water but the new one i don't think so cause i've taken the A40 many times after renovation and i haven't witnessed that and you're also right about the use of reflectors...etc

My experience of Belgian motorways is quite nice, I liked driving from Antwerp to Brussels and was amazed by the lighting of the whole motorway!!!

But I found some section of the motorway to Luxembourg a bit strange and basically boring...so boring that you need to be careful of falling asleep

Dutch motorways are famous for being tooooo busy....Den Haag - Rotterdam - Antwerp was awefull

The development and economies of both countries suffer a lot because of this closed border. Every day billions of dirhams/dinars down the drain. Even families separated.

The real cause of this closed border? Arrogance of both sides. Nothing else.

The key to real development and prosperity is co-operation and free trade. Their arrogance is why they're both still stuck in the third world.
