It is mandatory to use this stadium for Euro 2020 since Ireland itself will not be able to host a single European Championship on its own. Really a beautiful stadium.

Aviva Stadium Goes Green

From 2016 onwards, the national stadium of Ireland won't have carbon emissions. The building will be supplied with wind energy to satisfy 100% of its demands.

The wind power being provided to the Aviva Stadium will be transferred through the grid. The stadium produced up to 2,400 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually, when using fossil fuels. It takes 22 acres (9 hectares) of forest neutralise such emissions.

With the deal, Aviva Stadium is officially free from its carbon footprint. Ireland is planning to produce 40% of its energy demands from renewable sources (primarily coal) by 2020.

This stadium, that remind me a bit to those of Marseille and Nantes, is cool, the glass roof allows it to look modern and soft, not just like the typical big boxes basically everyone build today.

Had it not these massive huge bars ...

it would have been perfect.

Two rugby fans have begun legal proceedings against Irish rugby’s governing body and the operator of Dublin’s Aviva Stadium after being struck by a ball at high-profile games.

The female spectators are suing the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) and New Stadium DAC, the company that operates the Aviva, over separate incidents, according to a report in The Irish Times newspaper.

One of the plaintiffs was hit in the head at an Ireland game against New Zealand in November 2018, with the other at a European Champions Cup match between Munster and Saracens in April 2017.

According to the Times, the IRFU said it would be “inappropriate to comment on any ongoing legal matter”.
