Any chance of you sorting out the Development Summary threads whilst you're at it?

I'm not advocating a "pastiche" skyscraper, whatever that is. Arena Central's residential tower would look great here; Landsdowne House would look great here. Simple, light designs in a lovely creamy brick/stone that reflect local materials. This is just a bulked up version of Lumina.

As a skyscraper, it's fine - nice, even. But not here!

Hmm not, sure about this one. The stepped heights work to a point to diminish the scale, but I think overall it's a bit too blocky.

Most of the roof lines along colmore row are mansard style and I think it might help to have a gradient roof to the elevation facing Colmore Row.

Agree 100 %. It's an ok design relatively uninspiring though, which does not in anyway reflect the local palette. Which is fine if you then go for a very sharp modern design to contrast with the older buildings, but this on first glimpse looks like an 1980's style.

What does it add to the area beyond extra office space and height... not much...

Completed at the end of 2017, 103 Colmore Row will be the first new office development delivered since Two Snowhill in 2013.

103 Colmore Row: Design Features

The Lantern: the top floor restaurant space will remain lit at night, illuminating the skyline.

The Winter Garden: the ground floor frontage on to Colmore Row is set back from the road, allowing pedestrian access and creating space for a winter garden and café. Four steel columns stretch four storeys as a contemporary response to the cornice heights of the existing historic buildings along Colmore Row.

Vertical “fins”: the outer screens of vertical blades help the building achieve more slender proportions. These will be coloured gold, silver, bronze and graphite, adding interest to the façade, reflecting the light as it changes throughout the day and lending the building a vibrant quality.

Well interestingly that's a previous design for the strip site over at snowhill, designed by Hamilton Architects, who closed in around 2010.

I beleive a couple of the guys at Doone Silver were previously at Hamiltons and their various guises, which may explain the similar style.

I was going to say the same Stel, looks similar to the building in your avatar.

I'm liking this design though, seems like they really want a decent block for offices on this site.

I think it's great. Or at least better than some of the other mediocre low rise stuff being thrown up.

I won't be quite so sad losing the old building now.
