In relation to this thread, a bit off topic, but I took this pics at the Lergravsparkens metro station. and thought it looks pretty nice and different with the planted flowers and and grass on the station

A bit off thread but interesting anyway.

Brescia´s (Italy) "look alike" metro is now being tested. The surroundings make Ørestad appear very urban in comparison.

Brescia's metropolitan area has about 450,000 inhabitants and lies approximately 85 km east of Milan, in Lombardy, northern Italy.

In July 2000, tenders were invited for an automated 13 km long automated light metro, similar to the Copenhagen metro, with a deep-level tube tunnel under the city centre. The system, initially referred to as Metrobus, was to be developed within 7 years with construction start in 2003, but after some delays it will open in 2012. 39 m long and 2.65 m wide trains will serve 17 stations, all equipped with platform screen doors.

Besides Brescia's new metro, there are also two new lines in construction in Milan; i.e., the M4 (yet to build) and the M5 (almost complete in its first part):

http://www.metro-5.com (the official M5 website)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milan_Metro_Line_5

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milan_Metro_Line_4

etc. etc.

BTW, the M5 had its first experimental trip about a year ago:

http://milano.corriere.it/gallery/mi...62b3cd.shtml#1

Both lines are quite similar to Copenhagen's metro, even if the stations are rather more spartan; for example, here is the Garibaldi FS M5 station (FS <=> DSB, the state railways), the most important one:

... with more technical details here:

https://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?p=91085097

Anyway, quite good-looking, even if there is not direct light from the surface (as in Copenhagen's metro)...

P.S.: A completely different approach can be seen, for example, in the new stations of Line 1 of Naples' metro:

http://www.newarchitecture.biz/2011/...les-metro.html

... with a quite artistic "Stockholm's-Tunnelbana-like" approach (but maybe too many visual effects, sometimes?).

Well, probably the best designs are somewhere in-between...

Edit: As explained here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ansaldo...iverless_Metro

... a "Copenhagen-like" metro system will be adopted also in other cities (like Rome, Thessaloniki and Taipei).

BTW, København H will look quite good:

... even if maybe there could have been a little more "urban" and/or "technological" look and feel.

Will there be an entrance to the Metro from within the Köbenhavn H concourse?

This is the only picture I have seen about that on the web (don't remember from which publication: probably by the Metro company itself; and I hope there are not copyright problems for using such a picture: culture should be open source, anyway!):

So, it looks like there will be a direct link with the Central Station (as it should be, indeed).

... Aha - here it is (on page 97 of the second PDF, from which I had extracted the previous picture):

http://www.trm.dk/da/publikationer/2...+om+cityringen

(BTW, sadly Apple's new iCloud infrastructure will shut down the iDisk service in June, IIRC: so, I'll have to find some other solution - Dropbox, or even SkyDrive, maybe...)

Looks like there will be a connection with Kbh H, but only with the S-tog platforms and not the main concourse? It's a bit difficult to determine by that tiny picture though.

Yes, it is a bit difficult to see on the drawing but the metro concourse tunnel connects with the existing platform connection tunnel under Copenhagen C. It will be renovated though not widened at this stage and equipped with elevators to all 6 platforms (12 tracks).
The tunnel will not have direct connection to the main station hall, only via the platforms.
The main entrance to the metro station is from Stampegade.

Trianglen
At the coming Metro site Trianglen at Østerbro, there's an open archeological fun and digging with the children (and adults too ) were you can find old stuff like pots, cheramic, bones, metal wires from the great excavation of the inner city from the last 300 years.
It was hot like hell in the sun, though I'm pretty sure the thousands of Marathon runners passing for hours, had it even more hot. Poor bastards, I'll join them next summer.

The location for the Triangeln Metro Station 2018.

There is a slightly bigger picture here:

http://www.trm.dk/~/media/Files/Publ...merapport.ashx

...on pages 22 and 23.

A direct connection also with the main station hall could perhaps have been a good thing, anyway.

... Even if, in fact, on page 23 of that PDF they say:

[...] fra banegårdshallen er der også adgang til perrontunnelen gennem den eksisterende bagagegang [...]

... or:

from the station hall there is also access to the tunnel under the platforms through the existing baggage corridor.

So, in some way, it looks like the metro will also be connected to the main station hall...

That is maybe the reason why the bike shop located next to the luggage storage is now closed.

A connection to the platforms is the most important aspect anyway. But I can't help but thinking it may have been useful for tourists and the like with a direct Metro entrance from the main station hall as well.

It appears from this drawing (page 96) that there is a possibility of using the bicycle centre and bagage storage area, as a connection from the platform tunnel to the main station hall.
It´s a long narrow passage so it may not be so popular!

The presence of construction of the City Circle line gets more and more significant in the city scape.
