This is very nice! It seems to be a very nice motorway

But so far, this motorway is not part of the continental motorways. There is still a missing part between Obrenovac and Belgrade bypass. In this also a bridge over Sava. When this part between Obrenovac and Belgrade bypass is completed, this motorway is also part of the continental motorway.

So when are they supposed to open between Obrenovac and Belgrade bypass?

Congratulations! Another oversea expressway built by Chinese construction companies.

LJIG, Serbia, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- A new section of Serbia's international E-763 highway named "Milos the Great" was opened to traffic on Sunday at a ceremony in Ljig municipality, which is 80 km southwest of Belgrade.

At the ceremony, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that the 62.5-kilometer section highway, which was built by China's Shandong Hi-speed Group, marks a "new quality of life" for the country, and will lure investors to cities and towns along the route.

The president said that the country in past several years came a long way from the brink of bankruptcy to the status of the most attractive investment destination globally, and noted that "much of the success was achieved in cooperation with our Chinese friends".

He said that Chinese companies revived Serbian economy, namely HBIS that purchased Smederevo steelworks, Zijin that invested in the copper mining and smelting complex in the city of Bor, as well as Linglong that launched a big investment in the city of Zrenjanin.

Vucic concluded by highlighting the importance of road connections for the future development of Serbia, and announced new infrastructure projects with Chinese companies in the future.

The new section with a projected speed of 130 kilometers per hour is 28.4 meters wide and has 42 bridges and overpasses, according to a government press release.

The new highway will further relieve traffic on the local road that was so far the only way for both cargo transport and passengers.

Chinese ambassador to Serbia Chen Bo, as well as officials from Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and representatives of the Shandong Hi-Speed Group attended the opening ceremony.

Is there a reason why the A2 motorway is shown as "road 22" in the signs instead of "A2"?

What seems to be primary is that it is road E763. Then there is also signage for road 22 or A2. But this seems secondary. The primary seems to be E763 only.

In Serbia, the E-numbers are more prioritized than the other numbers. The motorway from Belgrade to HR-border is called A3 but also E70. But it is better known as the E70.

Those signs are old, that part of the motorway was "finished" yet 2014 (i guess) and went from nowhere to nowhere. At that time, if i remember correctly, in Serbia the new road numbering system was not introduced yet.

22 was the old, funnily enough also the new number of "Ibarska magistrala", so it was not totally incorrect at the moment those signs were put.

Will the end of Gagarin street be the actual entrance/exit of the A2 motorway from/to the capital itself? And also is there a planned node for Novi Surcin and possibly the airport?

There will be 7.9 kilometers of 2x3 road from Vojvođanska street to the beginning of the A2. There is also plan to extend Jurija Gagarina to that road, and a further plan of connecting that road at its beginning (end of Vojvođanska) with "T6 road", which currently ends north of Bežanija graveyard. AFAIK there will be some 3-4 connections of that road with Surčin, but I think that best way for the airport is by Belgrade bypass.

Speaking of that road, before the motorway from Obrenovac to Ljig was opened on last Sunday, contract for construction of that access road was signed with CCCC. Those 7.9 kilometers of 2x3 road through plain is going to cost 70.5 million euros! That's more expensive per km even than Ljig-Preljina section which has tunnels and cuts and else. I just can't believe...

One more update, few days ago another segment of Ostružnica bridge on Belgrade bypass was lifted. Officials say that it will be opened by November 15th.
