Lol, I forgot about PER-LHR. And about CNS-POM resuming.

But still, two BNE exclusive services isn't bad. How many are there out of Melbourne? Zero, unless you count MEL-PER-LHR which I don't

Well the next 2 months should bring great things for YBBN.

With TS military exercise about to start in less than 2 weeks then plenty of aircraft will be parked here during this exercise.

3 new airlines and a fourth finally flying overseas and 2 new aircraft types to BNE.
Asphalting the new runway will be well under way which is the last layer and the link 2 taxiways joining into Bravo should also be completed.
Other Taxiway works will be complete by years end.
Work on the new Fire station should have commenced as well.

The new International MLCP2 would be close to starting work on as well.

TAAX start this Wednesday.Royal Brunei start 2 weeks later on 11July and Compass Jet arrive late August(Updated info)

2 new aircraft types 339Neo and CRJ200 in those next 2 months.

PAE will start overseas flights also in that period.

Lots happening and about to happen at BNE.I will try to chase pics of all the good stuff about to happen.

Amazing all that trying to stop Royal Brunai didn't work. I personally think they are unlikely to start stoning people because they are so in debt to China they want people to come or use their airline. I am glad Compass Jet is starting another about time.

Some good results from our international visitors to QLD in the past 12 months to March 2019 :SOURCE TEQ NEWS.

Also the Courier Mail had a article this week that more Australians wish to visit QLD for a holiday than any other state.

Queensland enjoys record high in international visitor spending
19 June 2019
Morans Falls

International visitors are spending more in Queensland than ever before with the latest data released today showing a record $6 billion was spent in the past year.

Tourism Industry Development Minister Kate Jones said the latest International Visitor Survey (IVS) data for the year ended March 2019 revealed Queensland’s total visitor expenditure was up 8.6 per cent year-on-year.

“Queensland’s tourism industry continues to grow because we’re partnering with the private sector to invest more than ever before in this sector,” she said.

“Tourism is a cornerstone of our economy and vital to jobs growth in Queensland.

“That’s why we’re working harder than ever before to attract more international visitors to our state – today’s data proves that our strategy is working.”

International visitor expenditure reached a record high in Queensland in the year ended March 2019, with 2.7 million overseas travellers spending a record $6 billion, up 8.6 per cent on the previous year.

Ms Jones said visitation for all travel purposes to the state increased, with education visitation showing the greatest growth - up 14 per cent to a record 121,000 visitors who spent a record $1.7 billion.

“This year, for the first time in a decade our market share grew faster than NSW and Victoria,” she said.

“We’re continuing that trend. In the data released today, Queensland’s share of total visitor expenditure continued to grow to almost 20 per cent, with the state showing the largest annual change compared to any other Australian state or territory.

“The growth of expenditure from international education visitation to Queensland doubled the Australian average, with Queensland growth at 24.3 per cent compared to 12 per cent nationally.”

The Minister revealed Queensland also performed well in many major source markets with Queensland reaching record highs in a number of countries including a 27.6 per cent year-on-year growth in spending from Chinese travellers and increased holiday visitation from the USA.

Taiwan also reached record highs in holiday visitation and total expenditure, up 6.5 per cent and 37.6 percent respectively - an increase off the back of the new daily service on the Taipei-Brisbane-Auckland route that started in December 2017.

Ms Jones said the IVS data demonstrated the strong performance of regional Queensland and said the State Government would continue working to improve the numbers and grow the state’s $800 million events calendar.

“Brisbane continues to see strong results with the city reaching a record high in international visitation and total expenditure, up 4.5 per cent to 1.4 million people and 15 per cent to $2.8 billion respectively,” she said.

“Tropical North Queensland also performed well with the region up 2.7 per cent in total expenditure to $1.1 billion.

“International spending increased significantly on the Sunshine Coast, up 24.4 per cent to $96 per night resulting in overnight visitor expenditure growth by 20.5 per cent to a record $277.2 million.

“These strong numbers across Queensland reflect the importance we put on the tourism industry and shows why we will continue to support its growth across the state.”

The A339 is seriously capable with a range on 19,000km and it can do it in 10 hours as the article states.... Never the less, should be good to see it in BNE.

Yes I wondered at one point if Virgin Australia might get the A338 for their trans pacific routes so they could standardize on the one wide body aircraft type. I get the feeling the 777 is too big for them. I believe the A338 can do BNE/SYD to LAX and assume from MEL also. Airbus have even said they could make a version of the A339 capable of trans pacific if asked.

A330-300 HS-XTF is operating the inaugural XJ310 service from DMK to BNE tonight. As always this is subject to change...

On an unrelated note I’m hearing QF is planing to expand its seasonal (winter only) BNE-ZQN service to operate over the Christmas and New Year period. This comes as no surprise as traffic to ZQN is booming.

VA are currently getting their finances under control atm, widebody replacement would be a 5 years away at most (10 years at the latest).

The USA partner, Delta, will want some influence into things as well considering they are also currently getting the A339neos. In addition to having a controlling stake into sister company VS (UK).

Both TAAX A339s are still yet to be delivered. So will definitely just be an A333.

Delta has no ownership in Virgin Australia hence would have little influence on Virgin Australia’s fleet planning.

And secondly Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Australia are not sister companies.

The only thing in common is the Virgin group (read Richard Branson) has shares in the two and they share a licence to use the Virgin branding. But other than that there is no link between the two airlines. So again what delta does with Virgin Atlantic would have zero influence on Virgin Australia.
