I had the chance to see it as a kid, so I can't remember all that much of it. (We typically flew into Newark.) I do recall over time much of the majesty had been hidden by various monitors and advertisements, sadly. Once the name of the game became efficiency in moving people through such spaces there was little emphasis on keeping such places sacred. Just as with our treatment of train stations, city halls, etc. Value engineering!
