I actually read that in my local newspaper here yesterday. Papers here rarely talk about Kenya unless it is big news. That is good for Turkana. I believe I heard the governor last year talking about building a Museum for the Turkana boy and other pieces. They need to hurry and cash in. Ethiopia is basking in the sun with "Lucy" looks like Turkana has more to offer

Fifth airline launches flights to Turkana

A fifth airline has launched flights to Lodwar, targeting increasing passenger numbers to the oil-rich Turkana region.Skyward Express will offer flights from Wilson Airport to Lodwar via Eldoret. The bombardier aircraft has a capacity of 50 passengers.

Skyward starts operations after other airlines recently entered the Lodwar route such as the 12-seater Air Turkana, 35-seat Safarilink, Fly 540 and its sister plane Sax.Skyward Express has set a prices of Sh7,500 for a one-way ticket from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport to Eldoret and Eldoret to Lodwar with direct flights from Wilson to Lodwar costing Sh13,500.

The Skyward Express director of operations Captain Joseph Ariko said the airline is targeting investors and tourists. “We are flying on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays to Lodwar. We also fly to Wajir and Mandera,” he said.

The Turkana chief tourism officer Mathew Lorugale said the airline has been launched “just at the right time” as the county was stepping up marketing of its 50 untapped tourism sites that include the Turkana Boy Monument.

“It will also play a major role in flying in many visitors ahead of County Tourism and Cultural Festivals to be held in August,” said Mr Lorugale. Tarach Tours and Travel Agency operations manager Hellen Egiron said many people opt to fly to Turkana due to insecurity along the border.

Now this is just commendable. I congratulate MKU for expanding its horizons to Turkana to ensure the youths here get proper quality university education. The other universities also better start opening campuses here too.

Nothing beats bringing services closer to the masses. What a sure way of helping more people and de-congesting places like Nairobi and Mombasa.

Forgotten road

Still a lot of roads like this remain in kenya.

Great journalism, the use of third person poem.
