Agreed. The below pics are from the 1st ever Mombasa County Assembly Speaker’s Cup, which is a local tournament that showcases the youth footballing talent across the various sub-counties in Mombasa.

These look really good. A tall glass of cold water on a hot day.
I would love it better even if the governor installed a big screen, maybe behind one goalpost, raised, of course

I give it to Joho when it comes to stadiums. Nothing special about these stadiums if anything they are cheap(around 50M) and basic. We are so used to mediocrity, tukiona such we are mesmerized. This here is proof of what 50M can do if well spent. Instead other leaders/govt will spend hundreds of millions on substandard pitches. Counties should borrow ideas and best practices. I still wait to see what other counties achieved in last 5yrs, eg kilifi. NE counties did great!

This is class compared with Nakuru that used 200+ millions to give us those metal boxes that are not even aligned

Nkt heri wangeacha tu....

State sets target for Nyayo stadium

Kaberia also announced the Sports ministry had shelved the idea of transforming the stadium into an all seater owing to “challenges” in processing and giving out the tenders.

True, these aren't very big stadia, but lets not be quick to abhor them before checking the figures behind it. It's not like the county was given 300B specifically for building stadiums. Infact, Mombasa county gets 6B annually and out of that 300M is allocated for developments in Sports, Youth, and Gender (according to their budget). Personally, I think they have done quite a great job on the two stadia compared to Machakos which gets 8B annually yet they built an iron sheet and wood structure and labelled it a modern stadium. Mombasa has even gone further to promote local sports teams with equipment and organizes tournaments at these stadiums. Many other counties have done practically nothing and that's where we should direct our rage in my opinion

I have been thinking this for a long time now. If someone could get us a poll running...

Who, like me, thinks that the government should make effort and build a new and worthy 'National Stadium' and make Nyayo National Stadium just to Nyayo Stadium??

I usually look at it and I see nothing bout the country it potrays.. Even its construction was just done i a hurried manner if you know the story behind it. A national stadium should be deserving of that name.

Seats installation might b an expensive undertaking but the reasons he gives are not convincing at all.I wish he said cash was the challenge.
