found a clear artist perspective online. what are those flower like things at the top of each building? lightning arresters? plane/helicopter warning lights?

Beautiful!!!

However, this building joins the long list of wish-it-was-taller buildings in the metro.

Its fairly tall as it is but yeah, they could have at least made it 200 meters or so. Even in high end commercial buildings Ayala rarely makes it soar. I suppose they can redeem themselves with the new BPI Tower...

Kaya nga eh. 5.4 metres na lang ang kulang, di pa tinuloy. LOL! But I was actually thinking more like 300 metres. I mean, they own the freaking CBD. How can they let other buildings beat them in terms of height. Oh well, the Ayalas are probably really "confident of what they have" so they don't need to build big phallic skyscrapers to show off and overcompensate. LOL.

But yeah, I sure hope they wow us with the BPI HQ. That location deserves a beautiful and tall skyscraper -- something that complements The Enterprise Centre and Ayala Tower One.

I wish they could just pull up the smaller Mandarin Oriental tower from the ground and stick it to the top of the taller building beside it, that way you have one tall tower.

Exactly what Metrobank did. Stacked a hotel and corporate tower together and the result is amazing...

I'm wondering why Ayala didn't take the same route, also, they could've saved more open green space for Ayala Triangle Gardens if they erected one taller tower with smaller footprint.

Apart from Metrobank/Grand Hyatt, many skyscrapers around the world have 5-star hotels as tenants on their upper floors - Shanghai's WFC with Park Hyatt, HK's ICC with Ritz-Carlton, and Tokyo's Nihonbashi Mitsui Tower which has the same brand as the hotel in this Ayala Triangle property, the Mandarin Oriental Tokyo.

I think it's more likely about practicality. A twin tower layout makes it easier for each group to manage its own facilities. Also, IMO, I don't think the footprint would be significantly smaller if the hotel had been placed on top of the offices (or vice versa). That would have required a larger core since each section would have needed its own set of lifts if they wanted to achieve a certain level of efficiency. Obviously, it is not impossible to do, but it does pose its own challenges which they probably deemed best to avoid.
